Willie: Does It Matter?

About this ebook
Willie wants to learn what makes people like each other. Actually, Willie really wants to know what makes people like HIM. Is it what he looks like?
This RhymeTime storybook explores the meaning of friendship. Willie learns that character — what he says and does — is more important than what color of hair or skin or eyes he has, or how tall he is.
Other RhymeTime storybooks include "Willie: I Know You Are My Friend," plus a series of rhyming stories about the escapades of Jack the Cat, including "Jack the Cat in Florida," "Jack the Cat: Christmas in Florida," and "Jack the Cat on Chicory Ridge."
Nonna Debora
Debora Emmert (Nonna Debora to her half-Italian grandchildren) developed RhymeTime storybooks for all young children (and grownups!) who think rhymes are both fun and important. Says Nonna Debora: “Lessons are learned from what your child hears . . . because story in verse is like music to ears.” She grew up on a farm with cats and a dog, a pony and horse, sheep, cows, and pigs. She loved the dog and tolerated the cats. (She thought they were sneaky.) But then she met Jack. She thinks he’s the coolest cat ever, and sees him every chance she gets. Nonna Debora’s rhyming stories about Jack’s entertaining escapades include: “Jack the Cat: Christmas in Florida,” “Jack the Cat in Florida,” and “Jack the Cat on Chicory Ridge.” Nonna Debora’s other rhyming tales are “Willie: Does it matter?” and “Willie: I know you are my friend,” which were inspired by the life lessons she learned from her family. She enjoys creating stories based on the wisdom she learned from her mother and father, as well as from reading Aesop’s Fables during visits to her grandparents’ house as a child. Over her years of mothering and teaching and grandmothering, Nonna Debora has enjoyed reading to many little ones — and has learned a thing or two about what captures a child’s attention. Ms. Emmert holds a BA in English from Quincy University, and a Master of Education from the University of Wisconsin.
