It was one of my deepest secrets. I was terrified of the darkness.

And I had my reasons.

I’m a street lawyer, Nicole Farmer, lawyer of the people and all that, so you’d think I’d understand this basic truth about the world: nothing is pure. But until I started getting cases on the Night docket, the world to me was made of darkness and light, night and day.
