- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Everything you ever wanted to know about rocket planes, guided missiles, floating harbors, radar, rockets, mine-clearing tanks, and a dozen other technological wonders--some fabulously successful and some more of a hazard to their users than to the enemy. Pawle writes his thematic chapters in a style that's readable without losing its authoritative air; sometimes you actually wish he'd loosen up a bit and embrace the absurdity of the machinery he's writing about.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Not every experiment is successful; Pawle covers both the more memorable secret weapons that were actually employed, along with quite a few more that sounded good in theory; but utterly failed in practice.
