About the Expert:
Raised in the countryside of lovely central Minnesota, Jessica Dumas had plenty of butterflies around and was amazed by them. When she grew up, she married and moved to the city, had three children and a career. Her love for butterflies dwindled. Several years later her mom died from breast cancer. She left her several butterfly-related personal items. Jessica's love for butterflies was rekindled and in remembrance of her, she became an advocate and lover of butterflies with the desire to write about them. She has written poems about butterflies but this is her first butterfly book. Jessica hopes you enjoy it!

Preface
There have been many books written about butterflies but this one is special as it takes you through all aspects of the monarch’s life, including why their lives are under threat. If you are not already a lover of butterflies, you will be, by the time you finish this book.
I’ve written this book because I am a true lover of butterflies and wished express that love through my writing. This poem is for the monarch butterfly:
The Monarch Butterfly
Oh what a piece of art the majestic monarch butterfly is
Thrilling to watch, with beautiful bold wings fluttering in the sky
Joyously perform their duties pollinating from flower to flower
So slight, humble, and delicate but blessed with vast power
Hard times they have going through the four stages of their short life
From egg to caterpillar that eats all day, to a chrysalis full of strife
Then an orange beauty spreads her wings
Even though facing a dwindling population
October brings forth a mission of great effort
As they slowly, navigate a migration flying southwest
Hibernating in a mild winter instead of a death with no pardon
Springtime urges the mothers-to-be to find a milkweed garden
And return home to lay eggs for a new generation of butterflies
But could this generation die with all milkweeds?
How can these pollinators keep the earth green like a park
If we keep stealing habitat from the monarch?
