About this ebook
This authoritative volume traces the evolution of the art of warfare in the Greek and Roman worlds between 1600BC and AD 800, from the rise of Mycenaean civilisation to the fall of Ravenna and the eventual decline of the Roman Empire. The book is also, of course, about the great military commanders, such as Alexander and Julius Caesar - men whose feats of generalship still provide material for discussion and admiration in the world's military academies.
Archimandrite John Warry
John Warry is a retired Cambridge scholar who recruited a number of his academic peers to produce a definitive book of the war between the Greeks, Romans and Carthaginians.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This handy book takes us from the Greek and Persian Wars to the early Roman Empire. The book is organized chronologically, with some great sidebars on the evolution of troop types and tactics. There are also some wonderful color plates of soldiery.
