About this ebook
Is this how it feels when you lose your mind? Or is it our world that is a lie? Join Tommy in his tumultuous journey in this last part of the trilogy.
Thomas Krantz
The aim of my writing is to arouse curiosity about new technologies and simultaneously view on a possible future. Perhaps it is not the future we want, but still not as bleak as in some films, such as Terminator or the like.

Chapter 19: A walk to the city centre
Tommy finds himself again sitting on the sofa at the home of Robert Magnusson's family, in the future. Beside him is also Lisa. She is wearing a helmet, which covers her entire head. Tommy understands that she is in a virtual world at the moment and leaves her to it.
Want to see the robot in the kitchen?
the question comes from the masculine blue robot named Peter, who steps into the room.
Sure, why not.
Peter shows him to the kitchen. Tommy notices that he can’t get inside. The entire kitchen area is surrounded by a sheet of glass from floor to ceiling. Tommy can see that there are three pairs of mechanical arms hanging over the stove and sink. They are busy cleaning up after the last meal. The arms are attached to rails under the top cabinets and work like three professional chefs, without bodies. On the floor a thin, but tall silvery robot is walking around setting everything up in the right place.
Don't people cook their own food anymore?
Tommy asks Peter.
You can if you want. But most humans prefer to do other things rather than cooking.
It feels a bit strange, I think.
No stranger than that cats in your time did not have to hunt for their own food.
adds Lisa, who has just finished her nap, They used to just spend the whole day sleeping. You treated them like royalty. The siblifs do the same for us. If we just wanted to sleep all day, that would be up to us.
And yet you all seem to be in very good shape,
Tommy replies. I haven’t seen a single overweight person anywhere.
We make sure that all the food is perfectly balanced for each individual,
Peter explains. It's one of the benefits of Nanobots. We get information directly from inside your body.
Sometimes I just have a bottle of liquid nutrition for a meal.
, Lisa shows him a bottle with a pink fluid. It's fast and easy.
Tommy looks her over from top to toe. She certainly looks to be on top form and moreover, like she could actually live forever. Tommy turns his gaze towards Peter. And siblifs, do you eat?
No, not really. But we have a liquid inside us that needs to be replaced. And that too is filled with NanoBots.
Want to go outside for a walk?
Lisa asks cheerfully, There are more things I’d like to show you.
Ok, that would be fun.
Tommy is feeling curious.
During the walk, Lisa suggests that they have a virtual Mind Clone keep them company.
Mind Clone?
Tommy exclaims, What on earth is that?
Honestly, I don’t know exactly how it works but ...
Lisa scratches her head, making her hair a little messy, But imagine that you are able to create a copy of your brain; the memories, the way you reason, everything you like and dislike, making a digital copy of your whole personality. And then, you let an avatar of some sort download it, so that it almost becomes a copy of you.
Are we able to choose anyone?
asks Tommy.
No. We can just download Mind Clones that are based on people who have been dead for more than 25 years.
Why?
Apparently the Global Consciousness has decided that us humans need time to process our grief and regrets.
I thought there was only one law?
Tommy says quietly.
Lisa and Tommy stop by a canal they can’t get across. Lisa presses lightly on her wrist. The tattoo snowflake flashes blue for a while, then turns green. There is a bridge in the middle of the canal that swings around towards them, so that they can now get across.
Put your glasses on please, so we can look through the list of Mind Clones.
says Lisa.
On the other side of the canal Tommy spots a number of virtual people standing in a line. One of them looks very familiar to Tommy.
Carl Sagan.
he says quietly, How is that possible?
Oh
, says Lisa, You mean the man with the black bushy hair, wide smile, wearing a beige jacket?
All other people then disappear and only the projection of Tommy's favourite astronomer remains. He doesn’t move, but stands still with his arms crossed and he has a big smile on his face, his white teeth shining in the sunlight.
But how can he see me?
Tommy asks eagerly, How will he be able to hear my questions?
Take off your glasses for a moment.
Lisa demands.
Tommy then sees a small drone shaped like a ball flying across
