About this ebook
In nomine Patris by Alexander Copperwhite
An envoy of the Holy Inquisition investigates in a monastery
Winter of 1487 d. C.
In a monastery, in the Pyrenees, a monk witnesses a miracle ... or an act of the devil.
A sow stands, walks towards him and, after much suffering, gives birth to a human baby. After giving birth, it falls into the mud and disappears without a trace.
The event comes to the church’s attention and the Holy Inquisition sends Lucius, one of its members, to investigate the event.
What does the baby look like?
Is it the work of the Devil or God?
Why does the guardian of the newborn consult the Necronomicon?
The mysteries of faith drown reason and frighten the man.

FEARS REMAIN IN OUR THOUGHTS
THEREFORE, FIGHTING AGAINST THEM DEPENDS ON US
This story unfolds at the end of the Middle Ages.

Prologue
In nomine Patris
I discovered Alexander Copperwhite on Twitter. Social networks are nowadays essential places to meet, follow and make friends. His novel The Fetus draw my attention because it was such a harsh topic, and I read a couple of books by this young man who has specialized in mystery literature, a genre he undoubtedly knows how to narrate.
Fear is embedded in the depths of the human psyche, and by nature, the unknown attracts us. This is the case of the story In nomine Patris, whose argument is based on superstition that any unusual event can happen behind the doors of a monastery. One that, moreover, is set in a place forgotten by God, as Copperwhite narrates.
Sometimes mysteries are just a product of our imagination, and it is the writer’s task to give them the precise shape to become credible by mixing them with reality. This is the case of In nomine Patris: those who read the book will know that while reaching the end, doubt will begin to corrode from the penultimate paragraph only to shed light in the last line.

INTRODUCTION
Legend has it that in a monastery remote from the rest of the world, in the Pyrenees, a baby was born among the monks. Some of them considered him to a miracle, while others claimed that he was a devilish act, since there was no woman either among them or on the outskirts of the monastery. Brother Lawrence, who found the creature, swore over and over that he has been present during his birth. He claimed that, while feeding the pigs, one of them approached him, standing on two legs and after a great struggle and much suffering, gave birth to the unexpected
as they all decided to name the baby. Minutes later the animal died bleeding and it disappeared among the remains of mud, leaving no trace.
The monks debated for days, even weeks in order to decide the
