About this ebook
What comes to mind when you think of stocks? The chicken stock your mom uses to make soup? The medieval device used to punish people publicly (try saying that three times real fast)? Okay, those are types of stocks, but what we’re focused on here is shares of stocks that publicly-traded corporations sell as investments.
Intimidated or confused by the prospect of investing in the stock market, but want to get in on the action? Never fear. Muslim Investor is here. In this book, you’ll learn what the stock market is, what stocks are, how to open your own brokerage account, how to invest in stocks, how to analyze stocks, and how to diversify your portfolio. You’ll also learn some slick tricks to make investing even easier. And most importantly for Muslim readers, you’ll learn how to choose halal stocks. Even if you're not a Muslim, this book is for you too; it just has some specific guidelines on what types of investments are allowed for Muslims.
So what are you waiting for? This is the perfect primer for anyone wanting to learn about the stock market. The ROI on this book will be amazing! (If you don’t know what ROI is, then you definitely need this book.)

Introduction
Do you want to invest your money and make it work for you? Intimidated or confused by the stock market? Well, have no fear. This book will teach you what stocks are, how the stock market works, and how you can get started with investing on your own. No need for a fancy stock broker or a ton of cash.
What’s the point?
Before getting into the stock market and investing let me first discuss the purpose of investing. You see, inflation eats away at the value of your money because the cost of living keeps increasing. Simply saving money in the bank is not the wisest way to build wealth.
Investing gives you the opportunity to use existing money to make more money, typically without much effort on your part. Want an apple tree? Plant the seed and let it grow, but make sure to water it every now and then. Likewise, with an investment, put the initial wad of cash in, and regularly put in additional money.
How one’s money grows will vary based on the type of investment. If you invest in a business, it will use the capital you provided to grow its business and become more profitable, repaying you in the form of increased value or dividends (don’t worry, I’ll explain this shortly). Or, you might buy something collectible, such as artwork, with the expectation that it will grow in value over time, after which you can sell it at a profit. Another option is to purchase something that will provide income, such as buying a home and renting it out to others.
Ideally, the rate of return on your investments -- how much you earn -- will be higher than the rate of
