It occurs to me each year how very little I know about Christmas, and not just me either, but you and all your family are all unknowing about this most important event in human history. Indeed, if you were forced to take an examination on the subject of Christmas, you would most likely fail and fail miserably.
This is most disheartening, given how much of our lives we spend on this subject we know so little about. So I am going to play a little game with you. I am going to pretend that CNN had covered and was now covering again each and every aspect of what the overwhelming majority of people worldwide think is their way to heaven, and their soul in eternal bliss.
Let us begin
Cooper: Hello, this is Anderson Cooper in New York, where our regional CNN desk office has been in touch with Jake Tapper and Wolf Blitzer in Jerusalem, where our regional office is now fully established. We also have representatives scattered around the area, even including some in King Herod’s entourage. For obvious reasons, I cannot tell you their names. Jake, let’s start with you. What some are calling the most important event in the history of our species is now purported to be underway. Have you got any details on this Jake? What about you Wolf? You got anything for us?
Blitzer: This afternoon we received some secret intelligence from inside King Herod’s palace. The importance of this event focuses on who will emerge as the King of the Jews, and hence the most import person in all of Judea and historic Israel.
Cooper: Wolf, can you give us an authentication on who leaked this information to the public? We’re picking up reports that Herod is very nervous about what’s going on. Wolf, have you got anything to say about that?
Blitzer: Well Anderson, only this. His Majesty is jumpy most of the time, and no wonder. He is the object of unceasing assassination attempts.
Cooper: Since he is constantly on the alert for assassination, what makes this claim one in which he seems to have taken a pronounced personal interest?
Blitzer: Well for one thing, the Roman governor, Pontius Pilot, asked to see Herod this afternoon. Or at least that’s what we were told. It is very unusual for the Roman governor to ask for an audience with the King, and essentially warn him that something different is underway.
Cooper: Wolf, I can’t recall a time when the governor, or any high Roman official went to warn Herod. Does this mean there is something special about this particular event, and if so, what is it?
COMMERCIAL: Travel the world with We Three Kings Orient Travel Service. Hi there folks, we’re experiencing an incredible surge of interest in our Winter Solstice tours. A special desert express will provide you with the quickest possible speed. The King himself has promised to greet you at a garden party he is hosting. This special session with the King is open to only the first twenty five people. Camels will be provided.
Tapper: "Anderson, this is Jake Tapper here in Jerusalem. I want you to know I’m on my way to a secret location. We’ve had a reliable tip from someone in the inner circle of the man they’re calling the Messiah, and I must leave Jerusalem immediately. I will let you know when I arrive at the site, around four to five hours from now. I am told one can find the exact place where I’m going from the location of an exceptionally bright star in the
