Learning American Football Vol. 1

About this ebook
As humans, common sense teaches us that memories are made, friendships are formed, relationships grow, all in the name of culture. It’s a beautiful thing to share a moment with a complete stranger, celebrate with a loved one, or even recognize the fire that can burn forever with someone; through that one thing in common.
It’s hard to explain American Football to someone who has completely no knowledge. The energy can shift, just like the momentum during the game we are watching with intense enthusiasm. One long winded explanation of “holding” can cost you a moment to make a new friend. The good news will always be, that it can all be so simple. Basic knowledge holds the key to full blown fandom and enjoyment of American football.
This short story is a first impression, along with the bricks being laid to relationships, between people and sport. With so much happening in real time, as is life. Keeping things basic is the glue to keep it all together.

Dad, tell me what you know about American Football.
Kayla requests of her father, during one of their routine calls. I don’t have all day, but I can go into a little bit to get you started.
Marcos obliges.
Make no mistake, I’m always and forever a soccer guy. However, the
tree of football was born a long time ago, sometime within the 16th century (1500s). While Soccer and Rugby had gained regional popularity among the public, American Football was being developed at the same time during the mid to late 1800’s!
crazy!
yells Kayla.
The modern game of American football, as I come to know it, is commonly believed to have evolved from the combination of rugby and soccer (Futbol) from European countries. One could even live a little and declare it. You wouldn’t be all the way wrong.
How?
Asks Kayla.
When me and your mom became a thing, I was booming in soccer; but always sort of kept an eye on American football. Never had time to be hardcore, but had American friends who would talk about it all the time. Specifically, I learned the American version of Football was implemented, on the collegiate campus of Yale some guy named Walter Camp who was an undergrad student in the 1800’s.
Makes sense.
Kayla Admits.
Camp introduced the
down and distance aspect that separated what once was Rugby. From there, came the
11-man vs. 11-man concept, the quarterback position, the line of scrimmage, offensive signal calling, and most importantly the scoring system used to date. While others were involved in cultivating the game of American Football into what we watch today, Walter Camp is known as the founding father.
Kayla is a proud Londoner, moving to San Diego, California, to attend college for her research program. She has a few friends her native country that have been living in the US for a few years. She is excited to begin a new chapter in her life that can
