Sweating in the tropical humidity of Broome, Western Australia, detective Dan Clement needs to lead his rural team in solving a rare murder. The plot is linear and logical. We stay within the confines of Clement's mind as clues come and go. Most go. The reader knows almost nothing more than Clement as the mystery unfolds and deepens. We follow Clement's reasoning and the writer, Dave Warner, makes sure we don't lose the thread through the neat device of the regular meetings Clement has with his team reviewing what we know and what we need to check out.It is all very easy to keep track, yet embellished by some neat surprises which we discover at the same time as Detective Clement. All in all quite satisfying.
