- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Kinda cute, but I think I must be missing something because reviews on GR are quite glowing, and it was a big enough hit to spawn sequels. I'll pass on them, though.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a great book about finding out who you truly are. The fish swims around the ocean thinking that he is supposed to be a pouty fish, and in the end he finds out exactly who he is. With the help of his friends he starts to understand that he is not a pout-pout fish!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Kids will love the rhythmic rhymes in this fun and funny book and delight in watching the Pout-Pout Fish transform into a Kiss-Kiss Fish all because he received a smooch from a lovely "silent silver shimmer." Kids will especially love the "Blub, Bluuub, Bluuuuuuub" sound that the Pout-Pout Fish makes. If you like this book, you'll also love Deborah Diesen's "The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big, Big Dark."
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love poetry, and this is a great book about attitude, and how powerful a great attitude can be. Pout Pout fish thinks he can only be gloomy because thats just how it is, but a little kiss changes his entire outlook on life. You don't have to accept things you don't like, you can change them with the right attitude!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A cute fishy story with adorable illustrations - and Deborah is a great speaker and does a wonderful storytime for children around her book!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Poor Pout-Pout Fish feels he has no choice to but to spread the "gloomies" with his pout-pout face. Until a new friend comes along and shows him that sometimes a positive attitude can go a long way in changing how you see yourself and your purpose. My preschooler and I giggled our way through the book, especially the ending. Great story, great message, great fun!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5K-2. This is a great book to teach students about how the way you act may make other not want to be around you.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So cute, and the rhymes are so catchy that my teenaged daughter loves reading it too :)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A fish believes that he was made to pout and be sad because of his big lips. Later does he find out that his big lips are great for kissing, not pouting!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am a children's librarian and this is the best book I've read in a long time. When I read it for storytimes, kids are immediately engaged and helping me to tell the story! Adults, you will love it too!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Its about a fish that pouts all the time, its colorful and full of details. I think its perfect for children to teach that they can choose a happy life.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love the illustrations in this book. My younger son loves the smooch part and now gives smooches instead of kisses.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The pout-pout fish believes he only knows how to frown, even though many of his friends suggest ways to change his expression, until one day a fish comes along that shows him otherwise.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Of all the children books I have read so far this one is my favorite! The illustrations are wonderful and they go great with the story. The story is about a fish who has a pout face and he thinks he must be glum because of the way his face looks. All of his friend try and cheer him up but it is not working. Then along comes a new fish and she gives him a kiss. He then figures out that he is a kiss kiss fish. I think this story is great for smaller children and older alike. I like how it sort of portrays a pouty child. I know my two little ones pout a lot and their faces look a lot like MR. Fishes face. I cant wait to read this to the Pre-K class I get to read too. I would use this book to talk my kids about the way we act sometimes. Sometimes the way we act can make people not want to be our friends.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I do not understand the love for this book. All these other oceanic jerks don't love the pout-pout fish for who he is, really sends a message that if you're sad no one wants to be friends with you, and that it is totally ok to kiss people without consent or discussion of any kind. WHAT THE HECK. These are all awful messages for kids."The Rabbit Who Listened" by Cori Doerrfeld is a much better about friends and dealing with emotions.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Although all of his maritime friends attempt to convince the eponymous Pout-Pout Fish to cheer up, the sour-puss swimmer insists that he is what he is, and that he can't help being down in the dumps. It is only when another fish, swimming along in a "silent silver shimmer," happens by and kisses him, that our piscine hero undergoes a transformation...Pairing an engaging tale told in rhyme with colorful, appealing artwork, The Pout-Pout Fish is a picture-book that would make an excellent read-aloud selection, especially with its 'blubby' refrain. I really liked illustrator Dan Hanna's color palette here - lots of beautiful shades on view, so this story definitely doesn't take place in the north Atlantic! - and I thought the text read very well. Recommended to anyone looking for fun picture-books in rhyme, or for children's stories about emotional states and our attitude toward the world around us.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Love, love this cute book. Perfect for storytimes since it features plenty of repetition and rhyming words.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5One of the first books that my son became very fond of. At the end of this one the protagonist realizes that his natural pout isn't a recipe for pouting and gloominess but for kisses, and he kisses his friends. Even before he could say, "Mama" or "Papa" my son would become excited as this book got closer to the kissing section, because he knew that his cheeks were going to get some kisses, and for a toddler anticipating something certain is a rare and special treat.
