About this ebook
Floyd Anvil is upset. Very upset.
A planetary emergency threatens to destroy life on Earth yet people go about their normal lives as if nothing is wrong.
Why aren't they taking action? Don't they recognize the impending danger?
The mainstream news media understands the problem and publicizes it, but that isn’t enough.
An army of deniers is turning public opinion away from the reality of the crisis. How can we save the Earth if no one cares, Floyd wonders.
Floyd isn’t just all talk. Floyd takes action.
Excerpt:
Calling all citizens of planet Earth!
We are at war with an army of deniers! It is time to defend your homes from the invading marauders! Mother Earth Wants You!
We are facing a planetary emergency that demands the immediate attention of every man, woman and child. Failure to address this crisis will result in an uninhabitable world and the extinction of the human race!
Hyperbole, you say? Let me explain:
The true face of the planetary emergency is no less than the grisly specter of global warming hovering menacingly over us all. Climate change, global warming, call it what you will, it all adds up to the same thing: the death of planet Earth. Our world is drying up like a puddle of water evaporating in the hot sun and no one is doing anything about it! But I care and I'm taking action! Join me!
My education on the impending crisis began in the usual way: TV and newspaper reports that slowly seeped their way into my consciousness until a bright light flicked to the On position inside my head. Searching for more, I watched a scholarly scientific documentary on global warming on the internet. The consequences of unchecked climate change were clearly explained. Ice caps melting! Rising sea levels! Cities under water! Crops drying up from drought! Fierce storms never before seen on earth! Average temperatures rising higher and higher! Wars over scarce resources! I needed a towel to wipe the drenching sweat off me before the program had ended. The future looks so terribly bleak. Only immediate action around the world will save us from extinction.
But consider if you will the real tragedy: global warming could be halted and safely managed except for the fact that an army of deniers is pretending it doesn't exist and is fighting all efforts to combat the crisis!
