About this ebook
Tania Laveder was completing her first year of medical school in the spring of 1942, when she received a fateful letter drafting her into World War II to assist Russia’s Red Army. Two-and-a-half generations later, at the age of 93, Tania shares the rollercoaster of her young life during those tumultuous years. Captured in Crimea, in the catacombs outside Kerch, she served three years in Germany as a prisoner of war. In the final days of the war, she married an Italian, and shortly they set out to reestablish their lives in France’s Côte d’Azur. But in starting all over again, Tania longed to know what remained of her family back home, in the little farming community outside Krasnodar. In The Many Lives of Tania Laveder, Tania’s story at last is in print.
