    CHAPTER 1

    Love at First Thought

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do  — Ephesians 2:10

It was love at first thought when God considered creating the human race. Man was created the moment it came into the heart of God to make him in his image and likeness. Man was first an idea before he was ever formed in Genesis 1:26, 2:7; God conceived the idea of a family before Adam came on the scene. Consider John 6:63: The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. So when God said, let us create man, life was produced by the spirit of his words. There is a creative force in every word of God, so when he speaks, his words create.  Stay with me—these are not mere semantics. Man originated from the life of God. The spirit in man, which God breathed into the vessel he formed from the dust of the ground, is the divine life of the Almighty. That life already existed in God before he put it into the vessel called man. So this idea of the human race was an actual reality in God before time began. It is why he knew you, before he formed you(Jeremiah 1:5). Hence, divinity remains in every human being regardless of religious affiliations or the lack thereof.

Recognizing that God loves people is the first step in helping heal the wounds of broken humanity. God loves you! Rich or poor, young or old, male or female, good or bad, and yes— ugly. He is constantly reaching out his hand to bless, to help, and to save in spite of our state. The rest of creation has been left puzzled to. The question is, why humanity? Why all the attention on this seemingly minute aspect of creation, what makes them so special and worthy of God’s love, attention, and focus? Well, the answers persist in the heart of God.

Let’s take it from creation, the pre-adamite world. God created the heavens and the heavenly beings, and they all served the purpose for which they were created. The moon, the sun, the stars and the galaxies in the heavens, all served his purpose and displayed his splendor. Despite the hosts of angels created to serve in the presence of pure majesty, and the splendor of the highest heavens, God was unsatisfied. There remained a space in his heart for something—a missing piece so to speak. The grand slam of all he had made was still in imagination
