Chapter One: Island Escape

How many bathing suits do you think I should bring with me? Jane asked, picking up a bright orange suit and putting it back down on the bed for the third time.

How about none of them because you are staying here with me.

David stretched dramatically over the foot of the bed, hanging with his head upside down off of the edge. Jane sighed and shook her head at him.

I told you, I need to get away from here for a while.

She picked up the orange bathing suit again, evaluated it, and shoved it into her luggage. With a groan of effort, David flipped himself onto his belly so that he was still draped off of the edge of the bed but now able to look at her with his best version of puppy-dog eyes.

Jane folded a few more pieces of clothing and tucked them into the case, doing her best to fill in all of the corners so she would only have to deal with this one piece of luggage and her carry-on rather than trying to juggle several bags during her solo
