About this ebook
This novelette is a prequel to Baests: The Escaped Demons. It reveals the story of how Mack and Peter became the famous FIS agents from their birth and upbringing in early 19th-century America to the formation of the FIS. Peter is recruited to become a part of the first all Baest task-force. Peter and ten other Baest endure strenuous training to become full FIS agents. After this, they are given their first assignment. A search and rescue mission of eleven reporters who are kept as prisoners in 2000 Sierra Leone during the civil war. Will they complete the mission successfully without causalities or will some teammates fall for this mission?

I
An older, dark skinned man paces back and forth in front of a wooden cabin, a forest is the background. The climate is sizzling hot. The man’s sweat stains under his arms and on his belly are examples of the heat. The man has a greyish-black hair and stubble on his face. His overalls are torn on the knees and sport dirt stains. His forehead has a long, horizontal scar-like cut. An obese man, who has a lighter complexion, slowly walks outside of the cabin’s front door.
She’s finished, son. It’s a boy,
he announces to the man.
The man stops and runs past the man as he enters the house. The cabin is only lit by the sunshine that reaches the windows. A small woman is lying down on the wooden floor holding a light skinned baby wrapped in a large towel. A toddler, who resembles the man, sits next to the woman as he stares at his new brother. Joy overcomes the man as he witnesses his newborn son is healthy. He turns to the large man with a smile.
Thank you, sir.
Don’t mention it. Now boy, how are you going to pay for my services? $120 is not cheap,
the man responds.
Yes, of course,
he agrees as he nods at his wife, Follow me outside. I want my wife and children to bond.
He walks through the front door, which the large man follows him. He stops once he is outside.
Your wife, uh Margaret, told me she will name the boy Peter. There is no reason to give that nigger a white name. Can’t hide the fact that he’s a Negro,
The man rudely provides his opinion.
He grips the money extremely tight in a fist as his back faces the man. He forcefully exhales before he turns around to face the man. He walks up to the man and shakes the man’s hand with the money in-between the handshake. The man squeezes the man’s hand tighter and Tighter.
Don’t you ever disrespect my wife or my children in front of me. You’ll regret it, indefinitely.
Are you threatening me, boy? That is unwise. I am a physician with many connections. Connections that could cause you to be hanging from a tree,
he responds as his grip attempts to match the man’s.
As they continue to tightly grip each other’s hand, Osiris quickly strikes the obese man with the side of his hand. The hit is accompanied with enough forced that the man’s trachea breaks
