~~~~~ Excerpt ~~~~~
James lost his footing as he heard what John said to him and felt the sweat working its way down his back. James felt like he was going to pass out.
John looked at him and took a better grip of James arm to steady him. John then started to guide him out of the museum when a loud explosion was heard outside.
This cause James to become more alert and started to run outside following behind John and almost running into him. John had stopped several steps outside.
James followed John gaze as he saw the taxi car engulf in flame and could see Frank’s form also engulf in flame in the car. James was about to run toward the car when John stood in his path and gently pushed him back, “There is nothing you can do, it’s too late for the man, and he’s dead already!”
James stood about 260 feet from Frank and the taxi. He let a few tears drip from his eyes as if he knew Frank for a while. John shoved James in the opposite direction from the museum.
Many people were running out of the museum in terror. The two men that had been across the street started crossing the street and continued toward John and James. John noticed a slight bulk in one of the man’s jacket. His life experiences allowed him to quickly realize it was a gun.
The other man slid his hand into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette and a lighter; trying to look likes part of the crowd. He lit the cigarette revealing the back of his hand. On the back of his hand was an embedded tattoo of a pentagram with five-pointed star pointing down with the head of the Egyptian magic god Seth superimposed on the inverted pentagram with in a “sacred” circle, belonging to the Coven of Seth.
When John was part of the special force team in the army, he and his team once raided a satanic house with many colt descriptions. The Coven of Seth was described as one of the most dangerous and most active colts still together today. “Quickly, no time to explain, just run” John shouted at the air; as he picked up speed.
John reached behind his wind breaker and pulled out a gun. “They’re coming for us” James was pulled by John in the opposite direction of the taxi. James started to run asking. “You believe that they were after me?”
In acknowledgment, John nodded his head in agreement. They rounded the corners and came to an alley way, where they stopped. John turned his head around the corner to look.
The two men were about to cross the street toward them. Gun in hand John pushed James to move a little faster. The alley way was located behind a row of older buildings. As John went he tried some of the doors which were locked.
They covered about two blocks where they came to a construction site. They climbed stairs to a vantage point that was about 20 feet above ground. The two men came up to the construction site, John and James were able to take cover.
The sirens were getting closer and someone had gotten a fire extinguisher and had been working on trying to control the fire. One of the pursers said to the other “Look we got to get out of here before the cops show up and start asking questions we’ll get them later” and took off in the opposite direction of the construction site.
    Secrets - Luz Cavallone
    Secrets
    by Luz Cavallone
    Dedication
    I dedicate this book to my son, John Joseph Cavallone, for allowing me to use him as a sounding board and for just being you.
    To my son, William Cora-Valentin for all the calls he had to endure from me.
    Thank you both for allowing me to be a part of your creative spirits. I love you both beyond expressions of words.
    To my husband Joe, thank you just for being you.
    Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
    1 Corinthian 13:13 (NIV)
    Chapter 1
    James Knyghte rushed through the airport in Heathrow, England. He had been able to secure a fight back to the US on an early flight.
    He had been able to quickly move through the security checks points and headed to the terminal were his gate was located. There were not a lot of people flying at such an early part of the morning.
    James had enough time to stop and get a coffee from one of the food vendors that had just opened that was available for those who had not purchase anything in one of the main eateries that were located before the final check point.
    He then walked to his gate which was a short distance from where he had just purchased the coffee. He was traveling light with only his laptop case and backpack. He was headed home and knew that his godmother always kept clothes and other items that she felt he needed whenever he came home.
    He took one of the chairs located at the waiting area of the gate that was written on his ticket. They were not the best seats. The chairs were more modern then the plastic seats of the past however they were still made of plastic with a little wider back section. It was some support for the back area. James was glad he did not have to wait too long to board the plane so he would not have to bear the hardness of the chairs for long.
    He looked at his watch and saw he had about an hour before the gate would open and the attendant would start to call passengers to board the plane.
    He set his laptop case that held his laptop and large backpack on the set next to him; taking a sip from his coffee he looked around the waiting area. James took in the view making a mental note. He saw that there were two couples that looked like they had been waiting for some time.
    From the couples’ interaction with each other it appeared that the couples were traveling together. They looked like they had just woken up and were trying to get their mind moving.
    To his left several rows over was a guy who was just getting himself settled into his chair and was looking at his cell phone reading something from it and smiled to himself. The guy was also traveling light and also had what appeared to be an overnight suit case.
    James knew that the flight that he was waiting for was a stop over from Italy. He figured most of the passengers for his flight would already be on the plane. Boarding his plane would not take long and he could be on his way shortly after they were allowed to board the plane.
    He tried to take his mind off his godmother’s, Linda, request for his return home that he had received. James was the kind of guy that did not jump to any conclusion and causes himself to worry without having all the details. He also knew his godmother and she would not have sent for him if she did not really felt it was necessary.
    His only concern was that she had not given him details as to why she wanted him to come home which was not like her at all. She always had long conversations with him and asked for as well as provided all the updated details of events that had taken place at home.
    Trying to take his mind off the whole thing, he looked out the widow and watched the sun greet the new day as it pushed its way through the clouds. He also watched the workers responsible for loading and unloading the planes.
    A few gates to the right of the window were planes that were being guided into its spot to receive its passengers or let them off. Further to his left there was another plane being guided out of its gate to move toward its run way for takeoff. At that moment he saw right in front of his window to his left was the plane that he would be boarding soon. It was being prepared to receive its new passengers.
    James then turned his attention to his cell phone that he pulled out of his right pocket. There was one miss called from one of his friends, Larry, who had not left a message.
    Larry was one of those guys who like talking to people directly and refused to speak to a machine or to use his cell phone to text anyone. Some of their mutual college friends always told Larry he had to move into the present. Larry would just smile and say. You do things your way. I do things my way. Larry could not be described as being a nerd but he was not one that was in the spot light. He was someone that was just there.
    Larry was a guy James could not figure out and after getting to know Larry in college James decided he did not need to figure Larry out. James knew he could trust him. Larry did not talk much about his past.
    James had learned from various small statements that had been made throughout the years that Larry's home life as a child had not been a good one.
    At one time James and Larry had been drinking and Larry had a bit too much and had unloaded that his father had been abusive to both him and his mother. His mother had chosen not to have any more children and behind her husband back had her tubes tied.
    James had not said anything to Larry about what he had said while drunk. Later that day while trying to sober up Larry provided James with some more personal account of his past.
    Larry's mother had taken Larry and left his father and lived in fear that his father would come after them and hurt them both. Larry was in his teens when he had heard that his father had gotten mix up with some bad guys and ended up doing something that landed him in jail.
    Only then was Larry’s mother able to get a divorce and had moved on with her life. Larry had chosen not to have any contact with his father when he got older and his father had been out of jail. Larry’s father had given up trying to control the both of them and had moved on with his life. Larry knew that he did not want to be like his father in any way.
    Larry had set plans for his future and was on track in getting that future in place. James at times wondered if Larry would find someone to have a serious relationship with. Larry stated that he would focus on that when the time was right. James decided that he would call Larry back later.
    James also reviewed his text messages and saw there was a text message from his godmother Linda wishing him a safe flight; nothing more.
    James had received a letter via overnight telegram from his godmother, Linda, requesting that he return home. The letter was vague and only stated that it had nothing to do with any family members being ill or anything else of such nature. However Linda had stated that it was important that he return to their home in LBI (Long Beach Island New Jersey), a major tourist location.
    When James first received the letter he tried to draw a conclusion as to why his godmother wanted him home since it made it clear that it was not an emergency regarding any family members. He could not come up with any reason as to what had changed that required his attention and a sudden return home. He also knew that his godmother was not one to cry wolf. Which is why he took her request very seriously and it was causing him to worry. But until he got back home and listen to what it was all about he could do nothing.
    He then turned his attention to returning his friend’s call and key in Larry's number; Larry answered after the second ring. Hay man where are you? I thought we were going to get together to work out that program you were having problems with?
    James let out a deep breath and rolled his eyes. More frustrated with himself for forgetting to call his friend to let him know he would not be meeting with him. Larry, I got a request to return home for some kind of issue. I'm sorry about not calling you earlier. Can we catch up when I get back? Larry was not shy about showing his feeling and sounded concern for James but did not stick his nose in private matters. He only responded, "Yea, family comes first. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out.
    Thanks, I sure will. James said as he ended the call and heard the check in attended at the desk announce that it was time for boarding.
    He gathered his things and realized that some more passengers had gathered since he had looked around when he first sat down. He usually was more aware of his surrounding but this letter had kept his mind off track. He made a mental note not to let such a thing happen again and walked up to the middle age attendant that was taking the ticket and directing the passengers forward to enter the plane.
    James worked his way to the second row past first class and started to get himself settled in for the long six hour flight to Philadelphia airport.
    A young blond haired stewardess came over to him flashing a big smile and informed him that she was aware that the first class seat ahead of him was available and offered it to him.
    James Knyghte being a tall 6'3, slim tan male with broad shoulders, with deep blue eyes and dirty blond hair, which he keeps at ear length, manage to get the addition of the flight attendance.
    He knew he was being given special treatment and hoped that he did not have to be booted back to his original seat, once he turned down any intentions that maybe flooding in the mind of the flight attendance.
    He had just gotten over a bad break up with his girlfriend of two years. He thought they would be making plans for a long term relationship until he found her at a local pub with another guy. That night was very difficult for him.
    He had gone out to look at some rings, picked one out and plan on asking the big question. He thanks God that he had found out before getting into all that.
    His girlfriend had shown totally shock when he saw her and walked over to tell her that it was over after witnessing the guy she was with give her a kiss on her lib and she did not show any signs of protest. When his girlfriend realized that James had seen her with the other guy she tried to brush it off as a friendly kiss. He did let her know how serious he was about their relationship and how he felt at that moment.
    The guy she was with just sat there and let him know that she had told him about their relationship but that she felt it was not going anywhere. James eye the guy and told him to stay out of it, the guy did not take it any further. James was hoping the guy would have said something else so he could have beaten his anger out on him. But the guy had been smart and kept his mouth shut.
    He then just walked away not giving his girlfriend a chance to say anything more to him. She had called him several times the following week but he never returned her calls. She got the message and stopped calling him. He lucked out on being able to take the ring back. Having some connections had their pluses. Settling into his first class seat, he thanked the blond stewardess and made some indirect comment about not being interested in anyone at the moment.
    The stewardess gave him a disappointing look and walked away. He then turned his thoughts about his godmother who stated in her telegram that a driver would be waiting for him. James lost himself in thoughts about the only home he had ever known and the two people that had raised him. James's godparents and close family friends, Linda and Mark Spencer.
    The Spencers were very wealthy and were not able to have any children of their own. James came to live with them when he was five and only a month shy of his sixes birthday.
    James remembered being told that he had a younger sister, Sue. Linda informed James that his sister had been with his parents because she was just a baby. His sister was never mention again. There were times when he felt resentment for being left behind. As he got older he began to get over his resentment. Linda and Mark love James and raised him as if he was their own child.
    They never hid that they were not James’s real parents and had told James what had happen to his parents when he began to ask more questions. He had been too small to fully understand everything that was said.
    James recalled Linda and Mark telling him about his trust account that had been set up for him at his parent’s request in their will when they were killed. James got the funds when he graduated college.
    He was also told that his parents were killed in a plane crash on their way to the Middle East. His father had been given a job offer and they were going to set things up prior to moving the whole family to the Middle East. Although James was wealthy he never acted like he could not be bothered with anyone that did not come from money. James was told that his father was the same way.
    James recalled being told that his parents loved him and that his father would play with him on a regular basis. If his father was having a meeting at the house with someone, that person had to wait until they finish playing before his father would hold his meeting.
    James also learned at an early age regarding the origins of his surname; Knyghte. Thomas ancestors came from a long line of knights who served for the crowns of England until his father was killed.
    James never followed in his ancestor’s footsteps in seeking to be knighted. There are stories that the family ancestors may have served under King Arthur as one of the Knight of the round table.
    For reason unknown James’s father used the name Tom rather than Thomas. James had been shown photos of his parents. James and his father could have past for brothers.
    His father was a bit taller and his shoulders were not as broad. But they both had the same dirty blond hair and the deep blue eyes.
    His father had been employed for a company that worked with development of oil and other raw materials in under developed countries.
    James’s mother, Elizabeth M. Knyghte; Liz as many called her was tall, slim and had clear glass brown eyes.
    Liz kept her dark brown hair in a stylish short haircut that surrounded her face. Linda had said that Liz had been working with a fashion designer when she met Tom and fell in love with him right away.
    Tom had gone to an exclusive fashion show with a European friend who was purchasing a dress for his fiancé. Tom saw Liz and had asked her out to a dinner party he was attending with his European friend.
    The rest is history as they say. The rumor was that Tom and Liz had to change their wedding date because it conflict with Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s wedding
