LIFE
Hi there,
In the past and for many years, I led a very busy life.
I worked, traveled and tried to understand what would make me feel good but at the same time allow me a decent way of life.
Very often these two needs did not go together. I often found myself doing work or having customers I didn't want and that didn't make me happy.
This conflict between desire and reality became really stressful.
Then, one morning, five years ago, this stress threatened to kill me. I had a heart attack and I was saved only by a whisker, thanks both to my wife who called the ambulance and the skill of the surgeons.
During my long rehabilitation I had a lot of time to think and I realized four important things:
1: I would never give up my passions!
2: Everything has its time and needs constant care.
3: I would not wait for someone else to help me but I would help myself.
4: I wanted to share my experience with others .
Once released from the hospital and back to my life, I changed job and this gave me the chance to free my passions from that cage of necessity. I started to talk to people with a new inner calm and to share those things that made me happy. I have not looked back since.
This book is the result of my experience, of my passions and my curiosity about the world and about life. I do not want to be seen as a professor or a teacher but as one of your traveling companions, one of your friends.
The time you're taking for me and my book makes me very happy.
I really hope that you enjoy it and that, with its help, you'll find your way.
Remember this each day: Never give up what makes you happy!
Thank you with all my heart
Antonio

She: Tell me, are you a real writer?
He: It depends on what you mean by real?
She: Well, darling, does anyone buy what you write?
(Breakfast at Tiffany’s) Truman Capote 1958
INTRODUCTION
How many times, during the hassle of everyday life, have you stopped to think about what you desire the most? How many times have you thought about how great it would be to have the freedom to follow those desires? And how many times, when buying a lottery ticket or choosing your lottery numbers, have you fantasized about how to use that mountain of winnings?
Well, this book is about desire, and passion, but, I'm sorry to say, it's not about mountains of money (or at least not really). It doesn't give you the winning combination for the lottery.
But it was precisely in a bookies that I read an entrance sign with a phrase that we could use as the opening for this book: playing doesn't guarantee winning but in order to win you have to play.
Now, I'll ask you a direct question: do you want to play? Do you want to try to win? Are you ready to stop brooding on how to do it and replace it with: let's do it!
? If your answer is yes, then this is the time to look inside and follow your destiny.
Have you got doubts? Are you skeptical about succeeding? Frightened by the problems you'll encounter? You have just read the three things that have been holding you back (till now!) from pursueing your goals and achieving success: doubts, skepticism and fear. These very obstacles will be the starting point of our journey, we will find answers together, build strategies, and overcome fears.
Now, let me tell you about what I call the Rule of Max.
Max is my friend from university days. Once we had to face a maths exam, an exam that everyone considered really difficult for two reasons - one: the subject itself and two: the teacher who was really strict.
We would have done a thousand other things rather than facing up to studying that hellishly complicated subject, it wasn't in the least bit funny. In truth we were just plain scared and had already given up before starting. We were staring at a mountain, that is the study of mathematics, and on top of that was the examination itself, which placed on the highest peak seemed inaccessable, a great mountain both massive and immovable. Then along comes Max with his simple rule, the mountain can be looked at in two ways: as a mass of compact earth - extremely high and dangerous. Or you can see it as a finite set of grains of earth. At that moment, Max showed us the large volume of mathematics that we would have to study and told us: "Behold, this is the mountain that lies ahead; you can see it as a closed volume of 16cm x 25cm x 9cm or view it as a set of pages. This book is not infinite, it has exactly 684 pages, I will start from page 1 and then proceed to the second and then the third, up to page 684. At that point I will shut the book and successfully face the exam.
NEVER think about the book as a whole but only as one page at a time until you get to the end. I will take the grains of earth away from the mountain one at a time, so that eventually it will become a flat expanse that is easy to walk upon.
Max went on to pass the maths exam, getting maximum marks and today he's a respected and successful architect but, above all, a serene and fulfilled person.
You're not convinced? Well, you know I've simply told you what happened. I, at that time, did not follow the rule of Max
, I spent ten times the amount of energy as he did to pass the exam and I only just managed to scrape through. But sure, it is possible that Max was particularly lucky, or was made for the subject or even that the teacher liked him. So what? What difference does it make?
I'LL ASK YOU THIS: HAVE YOU EVER RUN A MARATHON?
A marathon is a long distance race of 42.195 km. It's the final race of the Olympic games and the world record at present stands at 2 hours, 3 minutes and 38 seconds. An uphill struggle, right? impossible, you say. Yet, if you ask a marathon runner how to prepare for such a long distance run, the answer will be very simple: Get up, put on a pair of suitable shoes, get out onto the street and walk for ten minutes, the day after for 15 minutes and the next walk for 10 minutes then run for another 10 minutes, and so on, adding five minutes of running per day. If you keep this up for at least five days a week, every week, within a few months you'll be ready to run the entire distance of 42.195 km!
Do you know who Aldo Calandro, alias Aldo Rock, is? No? He's a marathon runner / triathlete / deejay, one of the first ItalianIronmen
who every Friday talks about his passion for running, on a famous Italian radio program. I'd like to close this introduction with a motto of his: When you leave home, ask yourself
what should I do? When you come back ask yourself:
What have I done?... Man, I've run 23 km, my competitors only 21. Rejoice, in your willpower. The 'great' train alone and become champions, by finding that wild side their life begins to take off. Follow the ways of the heart and don't worry, running is sometimes about being slow... running is not about hurrying. - All the best.
Aldo Rock.
Page after page, grain after grain or step by step the result is the same: goal achieved!
SO WHAT IS THIS BOOK?
This book is a manual on how to become an artist and earn money or how to earn money as an artist. You
