Chapter 1
When heavy rains begin to fall, some say it is the tears of the gods pouring out their hearts to those who have befallen a tragedy. Others just raise their heads to the sky and close their eyes either in gratitude or remorse. Damia looked up toward the dark clouds with intense feelings of aggravation, letting the cold drops hit her face and run down her neck leaving trails of water across her chest.
She sighed in disgust as the blood trail she had been closely tracking instantly disappeared into the compiling puddles of water. Wiping the droplets from her eyes, she continued to trudge through the woods in the muddied leaves and grass, snapping twigs along the way. A hazy gray lingered in the sky and the accumulating clouds were beginning to darken. A low rumble rolled in the distance and a cool breeze ruffled the air. Damia shivered slightly as the bitter rain began to seep into her tattered clothes.
You nearby Ruykia?
She used telepathy to communicate to her dragon.
I am. There's what looks to be a cavern a ways ahead of you.
The dragon’s voice echoed in her head.
Good .We'll shelter there for the night. Sounds like this storm is going to get worse.
She pushed through the soaked vegetation and around the drooping trees, catching sight of the shrouded cave. It was slightly elevated, which was idealistic considering the rain, so Damia climbed up and in.
The cave entrance was mottled with dark brown and orange, the interior extended back, enlarged very wide and everything inside seemed to be dry. Luckily, there was an abundance of dry grass and wood, so Damia quickly got together some fire making materials just as Ruykia arrived. A large whoosh of air swept dirt and dust in all directions as the large white dragon landed skillfully. She tucked her wings in and shook the rain from her body, slinging some on Damia.
Hey. Ruykia!
The dragon's brilliant, sapphire blue eyes whirled in amusement. I took the liberty of acquiring us some food.
She dropped two dead birds.
Great! Thanks Ruykia! I'll get these cleaned up. If you would get the fire please.
She took the two birds near the entrance to pluck feathers.
Ruykia circled around the dry wood and emitted a quick breath of fire, the dried grass ignited immediately and crackled as an orange glow illuminated the walls. Damia placed the birds on sharpened wood skewers over the flames to roast, than she and Ruykia made themselves comfortable. Ruykia curled up close to the fire and yawned while Damia collected some soft moss to construct a makeshift bed. She laid down next to the dragon, outside the rain proceeded to grow heavier.
Thunder rumbled more frequently now and claps of lightning brightened the dark sky with beautiful hues of blue and purple. The delicious aroma of roasting pheasants filled the air, Ruykia licked her lips hungrily. Damia took the sizzling browned birds off the fire to cool. They ate quickly with very little conversation in between. Exhausted, they huddled together, settling down for the night. Ruykia drifted quickly off to sleep, her heavy breathing maintained a smooth rhythm.
Damia stared at the craggy ceiling, her thoughts digressing. It was infuriating Vorg had escaped, being on the verge of dispatching him. Sighing heavily, she visualized his horrid face smirking at her. She recalled the terrible event that had occurred 15 years ago and what conveyed her to be here in this cave. She remembered every minute of it, every detail.
It was a pleasant warm spring day, the air was heavy with the scent of sweet honeysuckle. Little Damia and Ruykia were happily playing on the floor of their cottage. Ruykia was a rare dragon indeed, not just being a unique white color, but was one of few dragons who didn't age immediately.
She and Damia found each other at a very young age, they were destined to grow up together, sharing a unique and close bond. Damia was a young child around the age of six, her mother was preparing for dinner, putting wood in their small heavy iron stove.
Outside the sound of horses approaching caused her mother to quickly peep out the window. Hectically, she rushed over to Damia, quickly shooing her daughter and the dragon down into a secret bunk. She grabbed Damia's arm and looked at her sternly, No matter what you see or hear, don't make a sound. And don't come out unless I tell you to.
she caressed Damia's cheek with her finger and smiled at her lovingly, closing the bunk door and covered it with a rug.
Moments later, the door was heavily kicked in as a huge ugly man and his cronies suddenly burst into their home. Damia's mother anxiously backed up toward the stove, away from the rug, grabbing a heavy iron pot.
Honey we're home!
one of the men laughed, Vorg, what you think of this little morsel, seems she's all alone.
The big ugly burly man looked her over like a choice cut of pork and grunted, Well aren't you a pretty thing.
He walked toward her smiling.
Get out of here, you're not welcome here, leave me in peace, please.
she pleaded.
Leave in peace.
the cronies mocked.
Vorg leered as he approached her. She swung the pot at him but he pinned her arm with one hand, she hollered as he gruffly clamped her breast with the other. Damia went to yell and bolt out of her hiding space, but her mother looked her way and shook her head.
Not bad.
he grinned as he squeezed harder, sniffing her neck and rubbing himself against her body. He pushed her against the table, lifting her skirt and forced himself upon her. Damia could only just see from under the rug. She watched confused and scared, not sure if
