About this ebook
An ex-Police Detective Sergeant is unwittingly dragged into a violent conspiracy headed by an almost unbelievable figure. Relaxing in an city restaurant he was just leaving when he saw a young woman being viciously attacked. He moved quickly and put the assailant out of action. A beat constable too late to assist witnessed the attack, but before he could do anything Alex had picked the woman up and loaded her into his car and taken her to a hospital for treatment.
As simple as that and now, he was a target for an organization which did not accept failure. The men and women indoctrinated to become its operatives committed their lives, literally. To fail and not use their implant to end their own lives, meant a cruel, prolonged punishment in the underground temple, long before it was over they were longing for their own death after which their lifeless carcass would be dumped down a black shaft where the squealing, grunting creature waiting below would feast on their unresistant flesh.
Although he didn’t know what danger she was in at that time, the doctor said she couldn't be left alone and since she had no-one else, he had to take her to his home. She was a beautiful young woman, but his was not the way he would have wished it to be. In the morning he was contacted by his old senior officer a Detective Chief Superintendent and instructed to come to his office. It was there he was told what he was up against and he was re-appointed back in his old position along with his present partner, another ex-police Detective he was partners with in their private investigation agency.
They were now reassigned under-cover and running a covert operation. The Chief took three bulky packages from a large drawer and handed one to each of them, Alex had his old Sig Saur P226 10mm , Phil his Beretta .45 cal and to her surprise Tania found she now had a dull blued 9mm Glock. They were handed a signed note and directed to report to a secret underground firing range and get into practice.
Before the end of that day, two of the organization’s members were dead, and within twenty four hours another thirty two would join them. It would be years before they would again know the feeling of relaxation and not have to be looking over their shoulders.
Over the next few months they would leave abandoned apartments, temporary accommodation, a trail of exchange vehicles, not to mention an ever increasing tally of bodies. Their team would grow and the operation would take them from one end of the country to the other, forever engaged in a battle with the most ruthless and dangerous being any of them had ever known. Damian although cloaked in mystery and reputed to be a Satanist, appeared as a tall, handsome well-proportioned and obviously wealthy individual. It was only when he laid his glittering black eyes a chill ran down your spine.
The series of battles went from the Northern most part of New Zealand to Auckland the largest city, across the mountains of the Coromandel Peninsular and down to the most uninhabited region of New Zealand's Lakes district in South West Fiordland.
The more they saw of the conspiracy the more they realized the extent of the threat it posed to the world population. It involved people in high places and threatened freedom more than all the preceding wars. The organization believed themselves invincible, above the law, but were going to learn that was an illusion.
Others have thought they could rule the world but they were mistaken as well.
