    Legality:

What good will this book do me isn't gambling illegal? Well, yes and no. Check out State Gambling Laws. As of 9/30/2007 most states allow social gambling or have casinos. Few states ban all gambling. Please check your state's latest gambling laws.

August 23, 2012 Internet article: Federal Judge's Ruling on playing Poker. A federal judge has tossed out the conviction of a man running a Texas Hold 'Em game in a Staten Island, New York warehouse. The judge says federal gambling law should not apply to Poker because it's more a game of skill.

As stated in this book, I too believe Poker is a game of skill.

    Reasons for this book:

Why did I write this book? To make money? Yes! Surely. However, my main reason was to pass on the knowledge I've gained in 70+ years of playing Poker. This included eight years of nearly daily play of realistic computer Poker programs for several hours at a time. I conservatively estimate I’ve played close to, if not more than, a million Poker hands. I’ve tried every conceivable way of gaining an edge at the Poker table. Every one of these often innovative methods win occasionally, but fail, finally, to add to your stack. In the end, it is mostly using common sense and basic Poker strategy that wins the day.

If you view Poker as simply a means of enrichment, you may never prosper. A total love of the game is necessary. I've spent twenty years writing this book. Spot an error or have questions? Please email me here so I can update it.

Poker Mastery: 70+ years of Poker Smarts and down-to-earth advice are included in these pages: A book for all Poker players, especially those unlucky at the table. I firmly believe I am likely the world’s unluckiest card player or, at best, the second worst. Alternatively, I might never have written this book. I had a choice: either devise methods to make up for my bad luck or think seriously about quitting the game. I quickly decided the thought of no longer playing Poker was incomprehensible. So, I began searching for ways to improve my game and the odds of winning. I believe I succeeded in both.

I wrote this to demystify the game of Poker for those interested. One Poker myth is that you shouldn’t play unless holding a high Pair-usually Jacks or better. I’ve found that you can often win starting with as low as a Pair of Eights. Why Eights? Half the deck is below Eight. Further, if you are the hot player, starting with less can give a good Return on Investment, as the financial world states.

You do not need a three or four hundred
