    It was the night of the full moon and Dani Parker was outside. She wasn't suicidal, though given the circumstances she could understand if someone made the mistake of thinking that she was.

    Really, she was just horrible at timing. Her shift ended at 3PM which would have let her get home long before sunset where she could lock the doors, bar the windows, and sit in absolute darkness until morning. Not an ideal Friday night, but it was what she had to do as an unmated female who didn't want her brains fucked out by any passing werewolf.

    They couldn't help it, not on the night of the full moon.

    Of course, some of the girls loved the wildness. They went into the woods, naked and wet, just ready to spread their legs to any passing lycanthrope. And maybe Dani had done that once - or twice - but that was all a long time ago and now she just wanted peace.

    Thus the early shift and the plan to be home while the sun was still up. Except Rebecca Patrick got sick at noon and begged Dani to cover for her until six. Between the bus and the subway it was an hour and a half for Dani to get home, but she still should have been fine. And what kind of friend would she be if she made a sick woman suffer through a Friday shift.

    Of course Dani agreed to cover for her.

    And then she got caught up in finishing a report and didn't leave the office until after six-thirty.

    She walked out the door to her office to see the sun sinking below the horizon. Her heartbeat sped up and she walked as fast as she could towards the train station. Everyone knew not to be out on the night of the full moon, not after dark, and the last train left
