The Two Legends of WWII
The Spitfire & Mustang Story
The Super Marine Spitfire is probably the most famous fighter aircraft in the world. It became a symbol of British strength, hope and defiance during the years of World War II and came to symbolise British victory. Certainly no other fighter was more deserving of its place amongst the famous. In its 40 major variants, it was built in greater numbers than any other British aircraft ever. It flew and fought on every single battlefront and in every major air action during the war. Historically, its finest hour being the Battle of Britain.
Winston Churchill: The attitude of every home in our island, in our Empire, and in indeed throughout the world, except in the abodes of the guilty, goes out to the British airmen, who undaunted by odds, unwearied in their constant challenge and mortal danger are turning the tide of the world war by their promise and by their devotion. Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.
