Alan Brenham is the pseudonym for Alan Behr, an author and attorney. He served as a law enforcement officer before earning a law degree and working as a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney. He has traveled to several countries in Europe, the Middle East, Alaska, and almost every island in the Caribbean. While working with the US Military Forces, he lived in Berlin, Germany. Behr and his wife, Lillian, currently live in the Austin, Texas area.

In 2014, I reviewed his book, Cornered and was amazed at the way that he could develop the characters in the story and keep me on the edge of my seat. He has done it again! I did miss the first book in the series involving Jason Scarsdale, The Price of Justice but had no difficulty in getting wrapped up in this thrilling story.Set in Austin, Jason Scarsdale is a police detective who is raising his young daughter, Shannon on his own, getting used to a new partner who is attractive, and starting on case that involves a reckless gang. The story actually opens with Mad Dog, aka Justin Wayne Cooper, in cemenetary desecrating the grave of the person. Snake, his cellmate asked Mad Dog to take revenge on several people who he thought had done him wrong. Mad Dog, Rastaman and the Runt set out for a series of killings.Jason also has a girlfriend who is trying maintain a long relationship with in Germany. His daughter, Shannon really wants her to be her mom. But he also has the new partner, how will that end up?The pacing is excellent, the excitement never lets up, especially at the end. I am hoping to read the first book in the series and any others that follow.I highly recommend Ramage for the best in crime thrillers.Although I received an Advanced Reading Copy from the author, my thoughts and feelings in this review are entirely my own. I received no material compensation.

Detective Jason Scarsdale finds himself in a race against time to hunt down a vicious gang that are on a killing spree. Add to it his new partner Tatum Harper, could be trouble. Will she come between him and his long time/long distance girlfriend Dani Mueller? Will he and Dani be able to stop the gang?

A fast paced murder/thriller. Jason and his daughter are very likable. His personal life problems are true to life. Being a single Dad, and working in his profession is not an easy task, but he pulls both off well. Add his long distance relationship, the danger of his job, the new female partner and we have intense drama.

The plot is original, intense, gripping and thrilling. The characters are well developed. The action/drama/thrill is non stop, nail-biting, page turning suspense filled. I strongly recommend to those who love a great thrilling read.
