About this ebook

Homicide detective Hank Proctor comes face to face with a beautiful, but deadly killer: Cybernetic Service Unit #33B. Known on the streets as The Velveteen, she stands accused of murder--her victim, an innocent little girl named Janie. She does not hide her crime, but instead confesses to the brutal murder without hesitation, raising the question: Is it murder when a cyb ends a human life? Her story, if true, is compelling enough to tear down the most powerful cybernetics company in the world.

He reached for the paper cup on the table in front of him, curling fingers around it for warmth. There was none. Batting the warped, protective sleeve away with his knuckles, he lifted his gaze toward the one-way observation mirror and ignored the door when it opened at his back.

He’d been studying the thing on the other side of the glass for so long, the sound of a human voice seemed unreal as it rang in his ears.
