About this ebook

Hannah Matthews is undeniably tough—a single mom, a top-tier PR exec, a breast cancer survivor. She prides herself on being go-to Hannah, who can handle any crisis.

But with her grandmother balking at going into a retirement home, her daughter unexpectedly pregnant and an old flame suddenly underfoot, Hannah is facing a few crises of her own. And being back home on Seaview Key is definitely adding to the stress.

Luke Stevens understands crisis. While serving in Iraq, his wife dumped him for his best friend—with whom Luke shares his medical practice. Seaview Key seems like the perfect place to hide out for a while. The last thing he expects is to fall in love…with his old hometown and with Hannah.

Sometimes, though, the unexpected is just what it takes to heal the heart.

A friend (MH) sent me this book in a box of books. I've read Sherryl Woods before but not this series. I didn't actually know this was a part of a series until the end of the book where there was a coupon (from 2014!) for the next book in the series. That said, I don't plan to seek out the next book in the series (but I also can't guarantee that it won't cross my path someday.)WARNING SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW: READ ON AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION:*****Can you go home again? It seems that many of the people of Hannah's generation couldn't flee Seaview Key fast enough. Most haven't returned. My biggest complaint of the book is the casual way the characters treat sex. Kelsey and Jeff end up with an unexpected pregnancy. He wants to get married. She's not sure and runs away to her mom (who's visiting Seaview Key planning to sell the inn and move her grandmother into assisted living). Later after Jeff follows her there, while none of that part of their relationship is settled, they're back in bed together. Hannah, Kelsey's mom, hooks up with her high school crush, despite no discussions of their long-term dreams, plans, etc. Hannah still needs to face her fears about cancer recurrence that hold her back from considering long-term relationships, her feelings about her parents: a father who left them and never visited and a mother that Hannah blamed for that happening because the mother was the only parent left. Luke's still processing his Iraq experiences, the betray of his wife and his best friend, what he'll do professionally, etc. None of this seems like a good foundation for starting a forever romance. Of course, in fiction, the author can always work out the problems in the way she/he wants them to. Real life isn't quite so neat.

A very interesting story by Woods and first in the Seaview Key Series with memorable characters with three generations of strong women (Grandma Jenny), Hannah (daughter and mother-recovering from breast cancer, PR executive in NY), and Kelsey (pregnant daughter dropping out of Stanford and now pregnant).
I have read many of Sherryl Woods’ books and this was one of her best.

I was attracted to the B&B inn since I have worked with inn and hotel clients for many years, handling their marketing. All three are at a cross roads (Grandma wants to reopen the inn and is full of spunk), Hannah would is single and meets her old high school sweetheart (Luke-loved him) has returned to Seaview and teaches her about more than work; and Kelsey realizes she loves innkeeping and marketing and helping her grandmother.

The audio version was excellent and the narrator did an excellent job! Looking forward to reading (Home to Seaview Inn #2) coming 1/26/2014.

Hannah is a strong New York advertising director, single mother and breast cancer survivor. She feels like she can handle everything on her own. After her mother dies from breast cancer, she goes to Seaview Inn, the bed and breakfast that her mother and grandmother own in Florida to close it down and send her grandmother to a nursing home. Her grandmother has other plans for her and the book is a struggle to see if Hannah can learn to relax and learn to love again. There is also a sub plot about her daughter and her unplanned pregnancy. Its a great romantic read and keeps you interested until the end. Great to read at the beach or curled up next to the fire on a snowy afternoon.
