About this ebook
*** Clash of the Tsarsae Clans ***
Ionasae Rendezvous is a science fiction novel set in the distant future, an action-packed adventure dealing with the convoluted links between three different species vying for dominance--houppris, humans and tsarsaes.
With the collapse of the Treolae Confederation, tsarsaes, a semi-quadruped species, retreated back into the core area of their territory, a region of the galaxy known as the Treolae Sector. The evacuated peripheral areas were then occupied by houppris and humans, two biped species that hated one another. Under the houppris, the Mandex Union came into existence, whereas humans founded the Bormac Republic.
The centuries old truce between houppris and humans has finally come to an end, ruptured as the tsarsae clans within the sector began stirring anew. The question now is do houppris and humans patch up their fragile relationship to face the tsarsaes with a united front, or do they fight one another and go it alone.
Riam Mather has been caught up in this life and death struggle. Was he at the right place at the right time? Or was he at the wrong place at the wrong time? Upon his success or failure will hinge the future of the Bormac Republic. He's awed and terrified with such responsibility. Into this volatile mix, he drags his consort, Juvril Soule.
Excerpt:
Poor girl, Juvril thought, as if any newcomer could remember all the information Riam was dumping on them at once. Her consort had warmed to his subject, his enthusiasm no longer under control. She turned her chair at an angle to get a better view of their new pilot, admitting to feeling a twinge of jealousy. Despite the closely cropped hair, the woman was quite attractive. She was also proving to be sharper than anyone had expected.
Excerpt:
Riam gulped down the last of his coffee, debating whether he wanted to venture outside to get a refill at the mess hall. His gaze swept around the interior, looking for someone to go with him. The place was organized chaos. Two days ago, the brigade had moved another forty-eight kilometers south, their second advance within the span of nine days. They'd cleared the last of the houppri rearguard from the Corlo Plains, forcing the enemy into the foothills of the Osppen Mountains. The brigade had caught the Union off balance by launching the attack ahead of a major blizzard moving into the region. Would the enemy now sue for peace?
Excerpt:
Juvril's headlamp picked out a limp body floating near a loose cryopod. The person was drifting toward the jagged opening in the hull. She yelled out, pleading with her unidentified companion, but there was no answer to her hails. She caught sight of the person's forearm panel. It was bright red. She gasped, realizing the survival suit's occupant was dead. She swore, chastising herself for not going after the body, but in her defense, she was terrified, totally out of her element.
