About this ebook

THIS IS SERIALIZED FICTION: (6 Episodes)

Sid Rivers and Jack Brown are two sides of the same coin. One is a lawyer with his own firm and dreams of money and power; the other is a criminal with a lengthy record and a quest for vengeance. When they meet, sparks fly. But was their meeting an accident? Or, was it planned by the billionaires who want to control their destiny?
The Love of Wicked Men is an erotic journey into the underbelly of the legal profession, the corporate culture of profit-at-any-cost, and the secret world of industrial espionage.

IN THIS EPISODE: With Jack Brown's cover completely blown, it's time for Jack to reel Sid Rivers in, even if he has to break the man to do it. Jeffrey Marn knows his firm is under attack. Client's are leaving, his private files are in play, and his senior partners have become targets throughout the South. But he's not going down without a fight. He'll go to any lengths to make sure he survives.

Great stories should not depend on gender or sexual preference of a character, but instead upon the strength of the characters and the honesty and urgency of the story.Brandon Shire proves he understands the complexity of writing LGBT fiction from two very different viewpoints – serious and smexy. His serious fiction is written for those who enjoy a book which explores life’s darker elements in a more literary form, while the smexy fiction is for those who enjoy a graphically erotic romance.Regardless of the differentiation above, Brandon writes for people who enjoy being challenged, and for those who strive to understand situations they don’t typically encounter. He pens raw, emotional stories about characters which readers will either love or love to hate.Life and love are pretty damned special, but neither is always perfect. Life can be painful, and real love hard to find. Brandon’s fiction is an exploration of the (sometimes) arduous search for the happiness we all desire.BRANDON SHIRE was chosen as a Top Read in 2011, Best in LGBTQ Fiction for 2011 & 2012, and won a Rainbow Award for Best Gay Contemporary Fiction.

    Note from the Author

THIS IS A WORK OF SERIALIZED FICTION

As with most writers, my time is squeezed by the realities of modern life. I’ve decided to offer Wicked Men as a series of short episodes. This will enable me to focus on each section of the story and offer it to you faster than I could if I simply published the entire book at one time.

Also, in serializing, I am giving my readers the opportunity to help write the story with me.

From the beginning, I never know how a story will turn out. I have an idea how it might end, but nothing is ever set in permanent ink. The development of characters, beta input, the muse, my mood, the amount of time I have for writing and research, they all affect the final outcome of a story. But this time I want to invite you into my writing process and into the world of Wicked Men. Be aware that the characters are not particularly nice people. They are vain, corrupt, contemptuous, and look down on almost everyone around them because of their wealth and power. I invite you to help me teach them a lesson in humility.

You can offer your input at any of my online profiles, but the easiest place would probably be on my Goodreads Group. We have a special section set up just for the Wicked Men.

    DON’T LIKE SERIAL BOOKS?

Some readers hate cliffhangers and serialized books. If that’s you, I have a solution. Keep reading...

    THE PLAN

You will meet many characters within these pages, not all of them will be fully developed until later in the story. Expect that they will have secrets and hidden sides we don’t know of yet. I’m still exploring them myself, but you may see them first. (If so, let me know.)

The plan is to release a new episode of Wicked Men every six to eight weeks. But don’t hold me to that strict schedule. If I know my readers, they will have plenty to say, and I’d like a fair chance to incorporate your input into the manuscript. If it takes a few extra weeks for an episode to come out because your input just blew me away, then I’m going to make sure it gets into the final product. Like you, I like a good meaty story with unexpected twists.

The complete series (Season One) will be approximately six episodes in total, but that is not set in stone. It could be less. That depends on you. When Season One is finished, I’ll put it all together for those who like the entire story in one book.

If you prefer to read Wicked Men when the Season One is complete:

    SEASON TWO

I don’t know if there will be a Season Two. That will be completely up to you as well. I can see some of these characters moving on to different adventures, perhaps many of them. But it will all depend on whether you want the story to continue. You’ll have to let me know. If Season Two does become a reality, it will follow the same format as Season One and, once again, I’ll be asking for your input.

    About the Author

    Chapter 1

You’re telling me I’m being attacked by a bunch of goddamned queers? Jeffery Marn asked his guest in disbelief. It was Monday morning; two weeks had passed since Keith Summers showed up in his office with a draft brief about the mishandling of the Montary Hill Hospital case. This wasn’t the report he’d expected to hear from the investigators he’d hired to dig into Rivers and Dunn.

Mark Wessman met Marn’s eye with mild amusement. Looks that way. He sat back in his chair and shrugged his broad, thickly muscled shoulders. Now the question is: what do you want us to do about it?

Marn’s gaze drifted to the window and the skyline beyond it. He’d lost two more major accounts since Summers visit, and both were attached to the Alabama office. Competing firms were beginning to swarm, waiting for the next client to defect. They smelled blood. However, he did not expect to lose the Montary Hill account despite the fiasco. The hospital’s board might squirm and make leaving sounds, but he was confident he could apply enough pressure to keep them on retainer. He had meticulous records to balance any threats against him, and his opponents would still need proof for any claims of legal liability. He knew they had none. His real concern was the harm being done to his reputation.
