What a fascinating quick read, once I started I had to finish it. The family relationships here are wonderful.Mazie Hartford lives with her Mom, Lilly, and her Great-Grandmother Mimi. She is in a long term relationship with Edward Clayton, he actually wants to move toward marriage. His family adores Mazie, and hers loves Edward...her 93 year old Great-Grandmother actually lights up in his presence. So what is Mazie's problem?Mimi knowing that at 93 her time on earth is getting short, has decided to give Mazie a quilt. It is not just any quilt, there is a historical story behind it, and it is called the Moses Quilt. Mimi begins to tell the story of the quilt to Mazie, it is about Harriet Tubman, the Moses to her people.Hearing the story of each of blocks is so interesting, I loved it. Edward then is asked to join and becomes enthralled in the stories. Will the quilt help Mazie to make up her mind, let go of whatever it is that is keeping her from marrying this Godly man? Or will the answers they find in the quilt end up driving them apart.Kathi Macias has done it again, written a captivating story. Don't miss this...enjoy!I received this book through Christian Speaker Services, and was not required to give a positive review.

The Moses Quilt is a story within a story that touches not only our hearts, but our souls as well. “Was it possible Mimi was telling them this story about the Moses quilt so their family could unwrap a story of their own?”Eagerly awaiting the next portion of the story Mazie Hartford waits patiently for her great-grandmother to point to one of the patches on the quilt. Edward Clayton, a successful lawyer, joins her. They are not the only ones. I sat with her in the room listening attentively to each part of the story. Harriet Tubman was a god-fearing person who obeyed and believed in God. She was called to be the Moses of her people. Moses of the Bible was the instrument God used to free the Israelites from slavery out of Egypt. During the 1800’s in the South, this courageous woman helped many slaves to freedom. What’s not to like about him, or love, for that matter? He’s good and kind, intelligent and successful –not to mention, extremely handsome. I can only imagine how many women would trade place with me in a heartbeat. Then why can’t she say yes to Edward’s marriage proposal? What is it that holds Mazie back? Does she know why? I enjoyed living day to day with Mazie, portraying the love she has for her great-grandmother, and her love for Edward. Each day a patch of the quilt told a story that could lead to the answer Mazie was looking for. Tragedy strikes; the path to the answer is blocked. Is there another way in finding the answer? Two things stood out for me. We can learn from mistakes made in the past, even mistakes made generations ago. Everything is possible if we believe in God. Our personal relationship with Him overcomes all difficult circumstances. God is a God of the impossible, do we believe it? Harriet Tubman did. Kathi Macias, is a master storyteller. I enjoyed The Moses Quilt tremendously and will recommend it wholeheartedly. New Hope Publishers provided this book to me for free in exchange for this honest review.

A Riveting Story!I quickly fell in love with Mimi. She is a sweet 93 year old lady living with her granddaughter Lilly and her great-granddaughter Mazie. Mimi has a quilt she has kept stored away through the years. The quilt is called the “Moses” quilt. She knows her great-granddaughter Mazie is having a hard time making a commitment to marry Edward, so Mimi feels the time is right to tell Mazie the story behind the “Moses” quilt and why it came to be called that.I found this book hard to put down because I simply could not wait for Mimi’s next installment of the story of the quilt. This book grabs you and holds you captive until the very end. It was quite an emotional ride.I absolutely loved this book. I hope everyone gets the opportunity to read it.Kathi Macias is quite the story teller and I have come to love her books.

The Moses Quilt is an amazing love story between a young white woman and a black man. Their love is put to the test over and over as Mazie questions herself how she could possibly deal with the issues that others may have over their relationship. Her great-grandmother tells them the story of Harriet Tubman using her Moses quilt that she purchased earlier in life. Mazie thinks that the story can help her to decide whether or not to proceed with their wedding. How could a story about Harriet Tubman possibly solve the issues that Mazie faced within herself ? That's was a question on my mind as I devoured the book.Kathi Macias is an incredible storyteller. She pulls you right into the story from page one and keeps you until the very end. She will have you falling in love with her characters, crying when they cry, hurting when they do. The story is very well written with believable, lovable characters. This is one book that you just won't be able to put down until the very last page has been read. I thoroughly enjoyed the book even though I don't usually read historical or romance novels. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a great book.
