- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Mr. Lane-Poole was in his day , a prolific popularizer of the sensational side of naval and military history. This is a survey on a surficial level but readable if you enjoy Victorian prose. he is a big fan of the Barbarossa brothers. I read a library copy reprint of the period prior to 1960.
