Prologue
La Storia de Prima la Rinascita
After the collapse of the Roman Empire, the west was left fractured, creating a disparaging and desperate period of history to be alive. Known as the dark ages or medieval times, the lands were ruled by Royals and barbarism. The Royals and commons alike worshipped many different gods or deities. This was until the emerging republics developed and revitalized the glory of ancient Rome by rediscovering it. Texts of the old Roman philosophers were studied by emerging secularists, who challenged the historical focus from religious narrative, to a record of human political and cultural accord. Information, once considered esoteric, became available to the less privy with advancements in large scale distribution technology, and the rise of libraries and institutions of scholastics and philosophy. The great architects of this period in history created what is considered to be the blueprint for what has become the modern western world. The cultural awakening of the Medieval Ages gave civilization the awareness that led them into a time that will be forever remembered as the Renaissance, or rebirth.
Ages and Mirrors
The parallels between the events leading up to the 14th century Renaissance and the events taking place during the 21st century, is uncanny. The Italian Renaissance was preceded by a period in history identified only by the major events that took place, and were called ages. The most relevant ages leading up to the renaissance are the Late Age of Antiquity, Dark Ages or Early Middle Ages, and the High or Late Middle Age. Those ages complete the bridge to the renaissance and Age of Discovery
. Each major age acted as milestones of cultural and societal reform during the era, and is considered responsible for shaping our modern way of life. A reflection of pre14th century history can be observed in 21st century state of affairs.
A1) Late Antiquity
This era takes place shortly after the fall of the Roman Empire. Sacred-history is prominent, with religious ideology and theistic belief among the people used as a means to recognize events that take place. This was an Age of Gods, where the majority of the populous believed that they were directly governed by the divine signs of an entity(s) of omnipotent spiritual power. People spoke bluntly and were very direct in approach, in comparison to the level of articulation observed during the renaissance. This is an era of barbarism, in terms of civilization. The language, the way people communicated, the art, and culture was primitive during this time in history.
A2) 21st Century Mirror
In our old world modern era, the term mainstream
has significance in terms of how individuals relate to each other in civilization. Religious beliefs are still considered mainstream
, as a way for the populous to comprehend events that they do not otherwise understand. Many people preaching about the decline as if it is an apocalyptic event of biblical root. With the technological advances in communication technology of the late 90’s and early 2000’s (instant messaging, chatrooms, etc.), language in society overall has become less articulate. The way people communicate during the early 21st century is analogous to how you would imagine the demeanor of a barbarian from the late antiquity or dark ages; mostly simple, mostly blunt, and mostly an abbreviated delivery of expression. This is the epitome of what is known as the mainstream
in modern western culture, of the 21st century.
The barbarism has become prevalent in all forms of mainstream
media, from art including music, movies, television shows, and news broadcasts (from radio to internet). One of the most recognizable reflections of late antiquity decline in art of expression is in the mainstream entertainment of the late 20th century into the 21st. The rise of rap music and overall decline of all lyrical and instrumental composition in the industry can be observed throughout the records of commercialized popular mainstream music.
B1) Dark Ages
This period in history is also known as the Dark Ages, because of the savagery that took place during this era of decline. With a deficient literary output and cultural standards for living, the deterioration and depopulation of urban centers of civilization continued where the Late Age of Antiquity left off. Trade declined and acts of invasion and Immigration increased. New societies were formed, utilizing the reintroduction of agrarian systems of working the land. This was an Age of Heroes, where commoners were held in thrall by the metaphorical means of expression and extraordinary articulation of aristocrats.
B2) 21st Century Mirror
During the first decade of the 21st century the west was invaded and attacked, stirring up homeland security and taking down the U.S. trade centers. That event sparked a financial crisis, and later there was a real estate bubble burst due to subprime mortgages, and then that was shortly followed up by the second major stock market crash of the decade. These events devastated suburbia and lower middle class urban areas. We were left with a stagnant real estate market, a struggling job market, and an artificially inflated stock market. More members of civilization, during this time, are living on Government dependency than ever before in recorded
