About this ebook
Cal Stringel may be dead to the world at large, but a select few know that he's still alive and in control of the most powerful suit of battle armor ever created. He's part of a rogue super team taking the world by storm and changing the dynamic for both heroes and villains alike. With change comes resistance and those holding control and power are not ready to just hand it over without a fight.
For the former D-List Supervillain, it’s time to break out the spare synthmuscle, charge the massive railgun pistol, and bring the pain. With his new team, he thinks he can take on the world, but is Cal biting off more than he can chew? He must deal with sanctioned hero teams and power mad bureaucrats on one side and the major supervillains of his world on the other.
As Cal and his allies ready themselves to face friend and foe, he will also have to deal with his relationship with Stacy Mitchell, also known as the Olympian, Aphrodite. Separated for over a year, they’ve only just reunited and are faced with the prospect of being on opposite sides of the coming conflict. Can they find enough common ground between the secrets and half-truths to sustain their fledgling relationship, or are they doomed like the last time to crash and burn?

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked it. It was an interesting, light read, and a fresh take on the superhero genre. There is some humor that adds to the characters, and an interesting story line that sets this book apart from others I have read in the genre.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was looking for something amusing to use an Audible credit on when I chanced upon this series. The audio sample was interesting enough that I purchased it immediately and started listening. Within the next four weeks I'd listened to all three of the novels and started them over again. While I don't followed the "super hero" genre, these books are humorous and witty and deserving of a good listen/read. I'm looking forward to the next book.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The premise was appealing, but the execution had too much of what I don't like about many stories written by men. Too much action, not enough character development.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This one was fun. MechaniCal, our supervillain narrator, is one of the last guys on the planet who isn't being mind controlled via little mechanical bugs. All the superheroes have started blasting the planet. Cal fights back, and in the process, becomes a hero (sort of), gets the girl, and saves the world. Very fun. So far there isn't another in this series, but if there were, I would buy it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book has been sitting on my wishlist for quite a while, and finally bought it week or so ago. It looked like a fun read and I wasn't disappointed. It seemed like it was going to be a Young Adult book, but there were some things going on in it that I'm pretty sure most of my siblings would be very hesitant to allow their children to read at middle school age. We follow a self styled D-list supervillian, and we first meet him after a mind control experiment goes awry and as far as he knows, he's the last human alive that isn't under the control of the 'bugs'. He manages to free one of the top tier superheroes from their clutches and spends a LOT of time weaning her from her addiction. And then things continue to pick up pace from their. I enjoyed it I plan to check out some more from this author in the future.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a pretty good book. I enjoyed it. I don't read supervillian stuff enough to really rate it against any other book, but it's well-written and entertaining. I'd have liked a tad more development to the love interest character, especially towards the end. Good, solid read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I got an e-copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This book is an expansion of a novella included in Horror, Humor, and Heroes by Jim Bernheimer. The first part of the book is that same story, but it is expanded to look at events that take place after the end of the original novella.MechaniCAL was a bottom of the barrel supervillain until evil mind-controlling bugs took over the world. Now he seems to be one of the only people with uncontrolled thoughts and is stuck living in his supersuit to stop the evil bugs from attaching to his neck and controlling his thoughts. A group of superheroes called The Olympians have also been taken over by the bugs. MechaniCAL is going to do his best to try and win over the Olympians so he has some sort of help in turning back the buggy invasion. This story is a lot of fun to read, very tongue in cheek, and well-written. If you liked the novella you will enjoy this version; finally we get to read about the aftermath of the bug invasion. There is a lot of action in this book and the scenes are very well-done. The characters are very human, they all have their flaws. They are also a bit over-characterized at point; but that only serves to add to the humor of the story. The book manages to be very funny and light, yet still touches on some deep issues. You can't help but love the main hero/villain MechaniCAL. He is intriguing and finds himself in an incredibly unique situation. The superheroes are also interesting; although the majority of them are not as filled out as characters as Cal is. The book is very creative and Bernheimer thinks of scenarios and superpowers that are both creative and laugh-out-loud funny.Overall this was a fun and engaging read. If you like reading about superheroes, supervillains turned superheroes, and enjoy humor in your story then you will definitely enjoy this book. It was a fun and easy read and was very entertaining.
