Kyle Wright
This is the last time If only I believed my own words I'd be just fine
~Just Not Tonight
Kyle struck the match, placed it to the awaiting wicks, and watched the flame creep towards her fingertips. As a child her mother once caught her burning a plant in the yard, which resulted in the palm of a frantic hand striking her backside. Kyle said it was Donald's idea; her neighborhood boyfriend during the days when the mere thought of sitting next to your crush was pleasure enough. Truth was, it was hers. All she needed was a little convincing to assure her it was a good thing to do. Donald provided that. Then he ran home when the flames got too high. So Kyle didn't play with matches anymore. But she couldn't stop toying with fire. Which brought her here.
If you'd have asked Kyle a month ago whether she would ever again be secretly checking into hotel rooms, erasing text messages, and packing lingerie, she would have instantly said, no, more as a means to convince herself rather than others. But here she was. Placing glasses on the table, grabbing the bottle of cognac, and pouring just enough to suggest the desire for impaired judgment while leaving space to say I want more if the mood is right.
Then. A knock at the door. A moment of losing breath. Like Alice in Wonderland standing in front of the DRINK ME bottle and EAT ME cake, Kyle had a choice. To grow or shrink. She took a sip out the glass and still couldn't decide which choice this in fact was.
She adjusted her black robe and steadily walked to the door, heels tapping against the marble. Kyle took one last look in the mirror to check her makeup and adjust her cleavage. She quickly averted her eyes as they fixed in on their reflection. Not out of shame, but rather, fear.
Door opens.
Eyes lock.
Silence.
Kyle widened the door, leaving enough space to be grazed against while entering. Her mind begins to numb. Eyes fixed on the brown leather duffle bag she'd bought a year ago. She picks up the glass of cognac and hands it off without a word.
Silence.
Eyes lock.
Go to the window.
That voice. Controlling her like the flute of the pied piper. She does as told.
Kyle could feel eyes canvassing her curves. She stared out onto the city. Feeling the hint of chilly air amongst the window, awakening her like cold water splashed on the face.
But. Then.
Fingers unraveled the loosely tied bow on her robe. Eyes shut. Delicate tips grazed her shoulder blades. Clothing tossed aside like the wrappers of Halloween candy. Kyle stood bare. Hands traced her torso. She leaned back a little, desperately wanting to feel the warmth of a heartbeat against her. Hands become firmer.
Spread your legs.
Again, she did as told.
Kyle's hands were placed on the glass. Fingers sliding over fishnets. Palms firmly on ass.
Smack.
Kyle jumped slightly and arched her back. Lips on skin. Shoulders. Arm. Fingernails firmly pulling over thighs. Stockings ripped. Thong pulled to the side. Kyle bit her lip. Hand placed around neck, firm enough to restrict movement and loose enough to say I won't hurt you. Right hand reaching over the side of her hip. Fingertip meets clit.
Rubbing.
Tapping.
Rubbing.
Moaning.
Breathing.
Kyle pushed her ass back and began to grind. Fingernails on collarbone. Fingers placed on the outside of her lips.
Pushing.
Rubbing.
Squeezing.
Two fingers in pussy. In. Out. In. Out. In. Out. In. Deeper. Fingertips pressing forward. Firmly. Purposefully. Moaning. Breathing, heavier. Heavier. Biting right shoulder. Grinding. Faster. Faster. Face against glass. Hands planted firmly. Breathing. Faster. Harder. Arm wrapped around torso. Three fingers. Deeper. Harder. Kyle's nails grab at the window. Pleading. Moaning. Louder. Louder. Deeper. Body quivers and wants to fall to the ground; left arm holds her steady. Pressing. Moaning. Screaming. Flowing. A tear drops down Kyle's right cheek. She's pulled upward and kissed on the back of the neck.
Hello.
Rachel Lawrence
Hey there you, try to stand up on your own two feet And stumble into the sky
~Sing to the Moon
Sun Rae, make sure you put enough sugar in the tea.
Rachel mouthed the words of her beloved grandmother. She'd been making the sweet tea ever since Mama Hayes could no longer stand for more than 3 minutes at a time.
Alright Mama.
Rachel returned to the porch steps and listened to wind beat against the leaves. It was 1:23pm, seven minutes until afternoon meds.
Baby I ever tell you about the day you were born?
The rhythm of the rocking chair had slowed over the years. The slower it got, the sadder Rachel became.
No mama.
She had.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Your mama was howling and screaming like the world was ending. Your daddy looked like a rooster dropped off in the middle of a pack of hounds. And the weather! Chil' the weather was so crazy. It rained, and snowed, and sleeted, and the sun was shining, all at the same time. I knew God was doing something magnificent. And here you come. Doctors thought something was wrong cause you wouldn't cry. But I knew you was alright. You were just strong. Watching. Cause you been here before so it wasn't nothin' new for you. Looking like a bundle of sunrays. And those eyes!
Rachel placed her head on her grandmother's lap and smiled.
"Use them eyes baby. You got stuff
