Reviews for The Disobedient Bride

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was so lame. It was intensely boring. They just revisited the same issue over and over and over again, in the exact same way ad infinitum. If we had actually gotten to see flashbacks or details of what the evil Mette had done and how he reacted, ok. But honestly, while we can assume that he never actually slept with her, he chose to retain a “friendship” with someone whose presence in his life and behavior toward her was hurting his wife- which IS emotional cheating and being a bad husband. But we never really know how that went down. We don’t know if the h told him about Mette before she left or any of it. So the arguments were just beyond boring. “I don’t trust you.” “I didn’t sleep with her.” “Well, how do I know that.” Rinse. Repeat.
Then, on top of that to contribute to the snooze fest, we are treated to a literal description of every darn meal this woman has over the course of weeks. Her gym routine. Her shower routine. Her face moisturizer routine. The woman eats so much warm crusty bread and drinks so much crisp wine that she should have just slept through the entirety of this book.
Every other female character who speaks to the h exists solely as someone for her to talk about the H to. Her family, who would obviously believe he was a lying, cheating sack of dung welcome him back to the fold with open arms of approval and not a single confrontation (seems legit). Also, the subtle misogyny woven through the entire thing, particularly in her workplace, goes entirely unnoticed by the heroine who is given a promotion solely based on a client’s desire to spend time with her. Her boss encourages this and forces her into “dates” with him...which is disgusting.
And the heroine is an abuser who physically assaults him multiple times and threatens to murder him. The murder (may) be hyperbole, but she slaps him, hits him, throws things at him and bites him... all on separate occasions...which he then uses as an excuse for forcing her to kiss him. So, I never got why he wanted to be around her at all. And given that after she left him he took three months to come be with her because he had to be there as Mette died of cancer and to support his mother. What? So, he still put other women first over trying to save his marriage.
In the end, they get back together because.... oh she just decides the sex is too good and that she misses him so they may as well. A tidy near death experience cements it.
Personally, I felt these characters really should just get a divorce and therapy. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5this is a sweet story. no jealousies, or other crap that other authors add in to make the story long enough to make a whole book. the dude, though, is way too patient with bitchiness his wife is hurling at him....overall, its not a bad read.
