About this ebook

War with their archrival, the evil Ansara clan, is unavoidable. For Mercy Raintree, a war means she must assume her position as guardian of the Sanctuary—the sacred Raintree home place deep in the Smoky Mountains. But doing so threatens to disclose her most prized secret—one Mercy has kept to herself for six years.

As the solstice looms and the battle heats up, Dranir Judah Ansara gathers his forces, intending to wipe every Raintree from the face of the land. Including Mercy, whom he's claimed as his to kill. Then he comes face-to-face with her—and with her daughter, Eve. Will Mercy's closely guarded secret change not only the outcome of the battle—but also Judah's own bitter heart?

This wraps up the stories from the previous two books and changes some aspects of the world. Two opposing families have been at war for generations and now things come to a crisis and at the middle are Mercy Raintree the guardian of Sanctuary and the Dranir Judah Ansara who is leader of the opposition.Years ago they met and had a relationship, now he claims her as his prize to kill when their clans clash. Fate has a different plan. He's too much of a bully, this reads like a typical 80's romance. I didn't find the relationship believable or interesting and the conclusion was a little to pat for my tastes. I really did prefer the other books in this series.

I absolutely hate series that are written by different authors. This trilogy started out with a story by Linda Howard. Very up to par and enjoyable. You are then sucked in to buying the next two in the series even though you would never read these authors otherwise. It was a very disappointing read for me. Very. The relationship between the 'hero' and 'heroine' was very stilted and whoed no growth. The guy plainly hated her and treated her like shit for nearly all of the book. They didn't have any emotional growth to lead me to believe that in the end they suddenly are together. You'd think I would learn to just walk away from a series like this. argh
