About this ebook
Memories Lady Evelynn’s childhood hero is home—bitter, hard, tempting as sin. And haunted by secrets. A now-grown Evie offers friendship, but Sir Stephen's cruel rejection crushes her, and she resolves to forget him. Yet when an unexpected war throws them together, she finds love isn’t so easy to dismiss. If only the king hadn’t betrothed her to another. Can be cruel Sir Stephen lives a double life while he seeks the treacherous outlaws who murdered his friends. Driven by revenge, he thinks his heart is closed to love. His childhood shadow, Lady Evie, unexpectedly challenges that belief. He rebuffs her, but he can’t forget her, although he knows she’s to wed the king’s favorite. And deadly When his drive for vengeance leads to Evie’s kidnapping, Stephen must choose between retribution and the love he’s denied too long. Surely King John will see reason. Convict the murderers; convince the king. Simple. Until a startling revelation threatens everything.

I am not going to lie. If I could travel back in time it would be from the 14th century and back. From the crusades, people believing someone with a skin imperfection a witch, only travel by horses, no guns, no cellphones, computers and cooking in a large stone fireplace. I know primitive but to simple a life.
When I find a book set in these medieval times I devour them. I will start and not stop until finished. I love reading books set in this forgotten era.
Lady Evelynn is a shadow to her brother and his friend and foster brother Stephen. She follows them around everywhere. Stephen has a sweet nickname for Lady Evelynn ‘little shadow’. Such a cute nickname but probably something that would make most females angry. Lady Evelynn does not realize but she worships Stephen he is her one true love. She measures every man against him.
Stephen as is a battle worn warrior. He has fought in the crusades and lived to tell about the experience. He and a band of friends banded together as a group to protect the innocent.
When Sir Stephen and Lady Evelynn meet again several years later neither is willing to let the past friendship resurface. They each want to forget the past.
I was quickly swept away to 1199 Normandy then England. I enjoyed the plot and characters in this book.
I recommend this to any who love reading historical romance.
The bunnies and I give this book 5 carrots.
