About this ebook

The Beloved of the River Goddess continues on directly from The Amulet of the Hunter God.
After a year of torment and pursuit half way across north-west Kalion, Edrun and Jina have finally found themselves both safe and well-funded. They decide to take a long, leisurely and much-deserved holiday in the fascinating Temple-City of Hazek, while they decide on their future.
Their happy idyll does not last for long. While enjoying a lazy lunch outside a tavern, Edrun, to his horror, finds himself publically hailed as a Lord of the Gathering. The warrior aristocracy of the Islands of the Sixteen Gods are very protective of their status and privileges, and are swift to inflict punishments both brutal and bloody upon those who would usurp their position. Moments later Edrun and Jina discover that their former nemesis Halgar Rassvorea is in Hazek, and has in mind a sadistic revenge against them for the trouble that they caused him in the past.
Immediately any thoughts of a peaceful and prosperous life ahead are shattered as they realise that Hazek is no longer safe for them. They decide to make for Amronulu, the citadel of the Lords of the Kalalutorm whom Edrun befriended after he had defeated them at the battle of Garinesigas. Their plans are soon cast into disarray as, barely having left Hazek, they rescue the fiery Adeta, the daughter of a wealthy merchant, from brigands who are attacking her. Adeta is fleeing an arranged marriage and Ordron insists return her to her betrothed, the arrogant and sadistic Lord Ordron Mailaranarad. But Lord Ordron is anything but grateful, and soon Edrun finds that he must once more fight for his life and that of Jina.
