I loved how this book went through Maximilian's entire life and the effects the various women had on his decisions. The fact that his babysitter ends up taking over the role of his mother is very endearing. Any other babysitter would deliver him to that point and then continue with their own life. This book was writen with feeling and with much love. Taylor-Bradford certainly delivers. this book is engrossing and vividly written - i was living in the time of Hitler and feling the impact of his decisions. the breaking down of the Berlin wall was a good way to bring the book full circle.i will continue my Taylor-Bradford collection. she has not dissapointed me
