    In 17 Innesmore Mansions the body of Mrs Lester is discovered. Her neighbour Francis Theydon saw, he believes, a Mr Forbes leave the apartment around the time she was killed. Chief Inspector Winter and D.I. Furneaux investigate, as they and Theydon become embroiled in a Chinese conspiracy.
