Bloom (a Mosse prequel) - Ella Eshe

Whenever you dress up like an archetype or highly characterized figure, you empower it, Cole said with certainty, his nimble fingers ripping off several more pieces from the rice bread pita on the flattened wrapper acting as a plate. He dipped it into the house tahini sauce with a gleam in his eyes and brought it to his mouth with a look of sheer ecstasy.

Cole was the only one who hadn't ordered a falafel pastry or pita, mostly because he was always so resolved to be different. Plus, falafels reminded him of his father, and he didn't want to think about him right then.

And what do we get out of it? Nona asked, an unimpressed brow rising over a wide, slanted eye as she lifted her head from its bend over the book in front of her. The six teenagers were crammed into tight quarters, but they loved the boothes in Moone's traveling eatery. The small, mobile diner was currently fashioned from a refurbished bus, but it was cozy, and it was a fun way to ride to certain stops in the city.

The conventional bus system seemed less and less safe to ride if you had obvious Mossie qualities. Some humans called them molded qualities, quickly causing the word molders to become a hurtful slur. Mossies tried their best to shrug it off, either calling themselves Mossies or Mods, instead. They'd been modified by the genetically-altered Mosse, after all. It seemed fitting to just accept that. Wearing a slur that was hurled at them regularly with venom was unpalatable to say the least, so they'd found a way
