About this ebook
A young American-born Muslim offers a silent prayer to Allah before getting up from his seat on a bus just outside Washington, DC. He leaves behind a backpack. Within minutes, the bus explodes near the Pentagon.
The largest attack in the United States since 9/11 paralyzes the country. The FBI quickly identifies Hassan al-Zaid as the primary suspect. A search of his home reveals bomb-making equipment and a taped confession in which he pledges allegiance to as-Sirat, the world's most dangerous terrorist group, and its elusive leader Omar Bashir.
Before the massive manhunt even begins, Hassan al-Zaid manages to slip out of the country. But a special unit of CIA terrorist hunters is on his tail and follows him across four continents to Pakistan. Once there, a member of the team discovers that as-Sirat is just days away from carrying out a nuclear attack on the United States. Having lost all ways to communicate with the rest of the unit, he has to risk everything to relay the information back home and stop the terrorists from carrying out their plan.

I first had the idea for “Human Intelligence” when I worked as a political journalist in Washington, DC, and covered the 9/11 Commission. When the Pentagon was hit, I was across the street and I think the proximity to the attacks has given me and many others a special perspective of 9/11. I tried to convey some of the experiences from that day in this novel. As a reporter, I covered Congress and the White House and I hope that my insider’s knowledge will give readers of “Human Intelligence” a realistic glimpse of how Washington works. After a decade of work as a journalist, I quit my career to move to Thailand and write this book. Why? I simply didn’t want to wake up one day and regret not having at least tried to tell this story.Aside from having spent time in Asia, I have also lived in Germany, France and Mexico. In 2014, I plan to move to yet another exotic country to make “Human Intelligence” a screenplay.I sincerely hope that you will enjoy reading this book as much as I loved writing it.
