About this ebook

Lessons in Eating Soup is set in Poland in the early 1980’s, during the aftermath of Martial Law. Michal is a young boy longing to be reconnected with his father who escaped the country some years prior, in search of a better life for his family. The story explores the innocence of childhood against a bleak and sometimes frightening environment. It is also a glimpse into cultural identity, how it can encompass the simplest of things, things that are often lost or left behind in the process of moving on.
