About this ebook

A greater part of writing assignments in post secondary education deal with analysis. In the college or university English course, this usually means analyzing a piece of literature: mostly poetry, short stories, and the occasional novel. Academic Writings on Literature: a Collection is a must have for those students who need to see samples of various analytical essays. This selective collection gives examples of essays on character, theme, and author's bias in all three of the major literature genres.

Character Analysis: Everyday Use of Hereditary Things by Alice Walker

Alice Walker uses two sisters, Maggie and Dee, to show the contrasting views towards African American heritage within the African American culture in the short story entitled Everyday Use.
