About this ebook
Graduating from high school is a big step for any girl. She is leaving her childhood behind and beginning the rest of her life. She is also leaving her mother’s protective circle of love and guidance. One of the greatest gifts a mother can give her daughter at this pivotal moment in her life is good counsel. In And One More Thing Before You Go...Maria Shriver, bestselling author, acclaimed journalist, First Lady of California, and mother of two daughters, provides a loving and heartfelt guide for girls as they go off to college.
Expanded from a speech given to her young friend Ally’s graduating class, Maria writes as a wiser, more experienced girlfriend, but also as both the daughter of a mother whose advice she still seeks and as the mother of daughters for whom she wishes a fulfilling and happy life. In this stirring and inspiring guide, Maria talks to young women about how to find abundance and emotional richness, and how not to overlook life’s most special gifts. Her ten rules—told in a witty and poignant anecdotal style—offer a firm grasp on what’s really important in life.
And One More Thing Before You Go... is a book that transcends age groups, a book that will make you laugh, cry, and open your eyes to a new way of looking at life. Thoughtful, compassionate, and above all, filled with love, And One More Thing Before You Go... is a book that will make every mother cry and every daughter stop and think about her mother’s words.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I actually listened to this book on audio which I normally don't do. It was just one 45 minute cd narrated by the author herself. I thought it was an excellent reading and story. The cd was bacically about common sense advise and live steps that can be used at any age esp. recent high school graduates.I esp. enjoyed listening to the part where the author recounts a story of when she was a teenager and was leaving the house before school and her mother would say, "just one more thing before you go". And I jam a fan of the author's. FYI, I listened to this cd in 2 siitings: one my way to work and going home from work.

This little book wouldn’t be a little book if it weren’t for my friend and mentor, Roberta Hollander. Everything my mother didn’t teach me, Roberta did, and then some. She pushed me to do this speech and to turn it into a book. Then she kept at me when I kept saying, I don’t think it is good, I don’t think it is long enough, I don’t like it, no one else will like it, I don’t have time to do it.
She has held my hand through all of my struggles and she holds it still. I love her, and I thank her for sharing her life lessons with me.
To my colleagues, Teri Hess and Sandra Wareing. I couldn’t write anything if you didn’t work with me, support me, and encourage me in everything I do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting up with me. To Jan Miller and Shannon Miser-Marven, my adored agent and wonderful friend. This is our fifth book together. I value you and admire you both. To Camille McDuffie. I wouldn’t know how to do a book without you. To Martha Levin and Dominick Anfuso. I
