About this ebook
A gripping adventure set in ancient times. The second wolf-narrated novel in The Wolf Chronicles brings wolves and humans together—for better or for worse.
14,000 years ago, wolves and humans shared a destiny.
The rules of the Wide Valley wolves were clear: Never consort with humans; never kill a human unprovoked; never allow a mixed-blood wolf to live.
When she was little more than a pup, Kaala, born of mixed blood and nearly killed for it, found herself irresistibly drawn to the forbidden humans. She shattered the rules of the valley, exposing the lies hidden beneath. Now, responsibility for the consequences rests with her. In part two of The Wolf Chronicles, Kaala and the human girl she has befriended must find a way for the wolves and humans of the valley to live in harmony. If they succeed, Kaala will finally prove herself worthy of her pack. If they fail, every wolf and human in the valley will die.
Then Kaala learns that much more than the Wide Valley is at stake. Humans—and their relationship to the world around them—are changing. Kaala’s choices may affect not only her pack, but the survival of all wolfkind.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5First line:~ I was not the first wolf to promise to be the guardian of the humans ~I did not find this second book of the planned trilogy to be as riveting as the first one and yet it was a quick and easy read. I enjoy this writer's comfortable style. About three quarters of the way through the book, I had decided that I would not likely bother with the third book, I was enjoying it but not hooked like I was with the first one. However, the cliff-hanger of the last chapter has left me really wanting to find out how everything is resolved. I will seek out the next book when it is released. Kaala and her friends intrigue me.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I liked this book a little less than the previous one, but it was still good. The reason I liked it less is a cumulation of little things, not because of anything big. I always get a little annoyed when characters keep secrets and then blame another character later on for not blindly obeying them and thereby ruining the secret-keeper's plans. There was quite a bit of that going on, particularly on the part of the Greatwolves. Also, I didn't like Kaala's submissiveness towards the humans. The humans themselves were mostly disgusting as well (except the wolves'humans of course). And the last thing is a bit more subtle, I felt a bit impatient at times, having to wait for how the story unfolds. No, I guess that's not really it, it is that the story sometimes felt as if it was all about finding the answers to mysteries. I was impatient because the in between stuff felt a bit as filling and not as an integral part of the story somehow. This sounds as if I didn't like a whole lot about the book, but that isn't true. As I said, these were small things, and there are lof of things I liked. I liked the stone peak pack in this book. I like the way the ravens call the Greatwolves Gripewolves or Grumpwolves. The way they talk is a brilliant find! I liked Marra better in this book. Overall, a good in between book, and I hope the next one brings a satisfying conclusion to this series.
