About this ebook
New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Lowell plunges into the adventurous and deadly world of underwater treasure hunters in a heart-stopping tale that superbly combines atmosphere, action, romance, and suspense.
After a family tragedy, Kate Donnelly left the Caribbean behind forever. But a series of bad management decisions has left her family's diving and marine recovery business drowning in red ink. Now her brother pleads with her to come back to the island nation of St Vincent. Without Kate's financial expertise, the iconic treasure-hunting enterprise started by her grandfather will go under. Unable to say no to the little family she has left, Kate heads back to the beautiful and terrifying ocean that still haunts her nightmares.
Holden Cameron was addicted to the adrenaline rush of active duty—including narrowly surviving an underwater explosives accident. The last thing the former British military diver wants is to babysit a family of thieves on a tropical island—even if they are the world-famous Diving Donnellys. But in his new civilian job, Holden must investigate the suspicious activity surrounding a Donnelly dive to recover treasure from the ancient wreck of a pirate ship.
When equipment, treasure, and even divers begin to disappear, Kate and Holden form an uneasy alliance to uncover the truth. But the deeper they plummet into the mystery, the closer they come to each other. Soon they are sharing their deepest fears and darkest secrets—and a combustible chemistry too hot to ignore.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5entertaining chick lit read. although I knew the bad guy early
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5My Booklist review:Rife with deep-sea diving and salvage terminology and interesting facts, Lowell’s latest tale of romantic suspense, after Reckless Love (2013), swirls around a grandfather and his grandchildren’s attempt to save the family’s treasure-recovery business as it sinks into the red. After watching her mother and father drown when she was a teen, accountant Kate reluctantly agrees to return to the Golden Bough, the primary vessel of the Diving Donnellys, when her grandfather and brother ask for her help. Arriving at the island of St. Vincent, she is appalled at how desperately her grandfather and brother need to fulfill their British government contract, and how distrusting the Brits are about their operation. In fact, they’ve sent retired diver Holden Cameron to oversee the Donnelly’s work, since the Brits suspect someone is stealing the gold and jewels the divers bring up. Added to the drama is a tropical storm that’s about to descend and shut down the dive. Lowell brings her reader-pleasing, heart-pounding gift for adventure and sizzling romance to the eerie depths of the ocean. — Pat Henshaw
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love stories about treasure, especially those that take place in the ocean. Night Diver has lots of twists and turns. Both main characters have baggage with regards to diving. They both must overcome the past in order to find out what is going on aboard the female lead's family boat during a salvage operation similar to the one that killed her parents years before. Twists near the end of the book as well as the description of diving adventure make this book a very worthy read.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I've read and enjoyed a number of Ms. Lowell's books in the past and although I enjoyed Night Diver, it had a decidly been-there, read-that feel to the story until the end. This was a fast-paced read but I found it hard to connect with any of the characters. There is a sense of mystery-suspense to the story that doesn't really pick up until the last third of the book. The romance comes into the story very fast and while not wholly believable, it does add some spice to the tale. Don't get me wrong, Night Diver isn't a bad read, nor is it poorly written, it is just a story that didn't really do much for me.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Kate walked away from her family’s diving scavenger business after Kate couldn’t save her parents during a storm when she was a teen. She’s urged back by her brother, ten years later, needing her financial know-how to help save the business while they try to fulfill a really bad contract. Holden Cameron is the consultant sent to find a reason to shut them down as theft is being suspected and the financer doesn’t believe they’re making enough money to make it worthwhile. The mutual attraction occurs immediately. We’ve got a romance with a heavy emphasis on very detailed lust. We’ve also got a mystery as the duo attempts to figure out what’s happening while attempting not to point the finger at her family. The author gives a lot of information both about the scavenger business as well as diving. The story and topic were interesting and I felt the story moved along at a good clip. But unlike most romances, there really wasn’t much of feel of having an obstacle to get around before a relationship could work. I never had the impression that shutting the project down or finding that her family was stealing would have prevented the two from getting together, yet lust was more prevalent than a feeling of love. There was a missed opportunity. We hear Kate brag that she had some training and could hold her own in a fight, and yet doesn’t use those skills when presented with a situation that would have benefited from it.My feelings are mixed on this story. It’s definitely a decent read and a good way to escape reality for a while, but it hit me as being somewhat off.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This book has potential to be an interesting look into a woman working in the stereotypical man's world of salvage diving. However, it quickly descends (pun intended) into soft porn. Disappointing!

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was my first Elizabeth Lowell book and I checked out the digital copy from my county library. When I saw that the goodreads rating was 3.4 I remember thinking that I usually like the books others do not and vice versa. However, in this case, the 3.4 was a generous rating. I have to say, I was not impressed enough to likely read another of her books. There was not as much depth to the characters as I usually like. In addition, there was just so much detail about scuba diving/boating/treasure hunting that I skimmed a good bit of the book because I was lost. The story line and mix of romance with suspense was good and the reason I rated it as highly as I did but ultimately, I just didn't get into this book and am glad to have finished it.
