Her unshielded eyes and Curtis both complain the moment she steps into the stinging sun. To remedy one, Jolene's obliged to awning her hand over her brow. To remedy the other, she bounces the infant jocularly within his carrier. Her hand proves insufficient to shade her gaze, but the bouncing is enough to make Curtis shriek with pleasure and masticate the front of her cardigan.
She hops buoyantly down the descending apartment stairs to the sidewalk, already steaming in the midmorning sun.
Jolene Ignesson, married, 31, of 331 Oxnard Street, North Hollywood, California, is out to fetch a gallon of milk and she's brought her infant son Curtis to keep her company.
