Dr Robert Maldron: Attack of the Harpy
()
About this ebook
A Continuum breach has appeared over the town of Whitley, northeast coast of England. It's not the first time it has happened, the last being nearly 150 years ago. Something inhuman has slipped through from one of the Continuum plains looking for a life giving mineral on the earth plain that is fast becoming extinct on its own. The mineral is naturally manufactured on earth through the human life cycle. The mineral is blood.
The creature is known to human legend and folklore as a Harpy, a figure of humanoid proportions, but with the strength of 3 men and the ability to fly. The deal reached between the Continuum council and the governments of planet earth is failing to deliver, namely, humans are not producing sufficient quality blood for Continuum creatures to harvest limited amounts during periods of human rest. This is because human blood is being contaminated by disease, drugs and alcohol. Once immortal creatures on the Continuum plain are now dying and are resolved to take matters into their own hands by accessing the earth plain without the council's permission.
Unfortunately, the earth's atmosphere does not agree with the Harpy and its normally placid nature on its own plain changes it and they become angry, aggressive and impatient looking to satisfy its needs and return home in the shortest time possible. 150 years ago they came and took what they needed with violence and a number of local people were found mutilated and killed.
Now they are back. The breach 150 years ago had been closed eventually by council members and it had stayed that way until human misuse of planet earth and its environment begins to cause vibrations and events that are forcing open fresh breaches letting through all manner of unwanted visitors.
Max Von Konstein, the council's ambassador on earth, is tasked with controlling the Harpy and its threat to human life. As a creature of the Continuum, Von Konstein is what humans call a vampire with limited ability to stop the Harpy or any creature during daylight hours without drawing attention to himself. Instead, Von Konstein calls upon his student, Robert Maldron, to act on his behalf.
Maldron was a field doctor in the American Union army until his medical tent at Gettysburg was hit by cannon fire. Almost dead, Maldron is befriended by Von Konstein and his traveling band of vampires and partially turned rather than face death. Now 150 years later, Maldon is a world renowned researcher into skin protection and the effects of ultraviolet rays. It has helped him to survive during daylight hours and made him a wealthy man as he offered his research to modern day manufacturers of skin protection treatment.
In return for saving his life, Maldron agrees to help Von Konstein as these breaches occur.

Hello, hope everyone is well? Just a few words about myself and to say I like to write part-time and my interests are mainly around paranormal and mystery type genre. I hope you find them entertaining? I'm married, 3 days after Princess and Diana and Charles were married actually (I didn't want to steal the limelight!), with two boys - men actually, but they will always be my boys!Spiritually I believe that we exist beyond death. It's just another stage in our existence. I try to write stories that have a leaning toward this as I think there is a part of us all that believe, some of us just need a little more convincing. I also like to revisit factual stories with notoriety from the past and put a "what if" question in generating an alternative theory. This is the basis of my Jack the Ripper story.Hope you enjoy and I would appreciate feedback if you get the chance. Many thanks in anticipationHermione
