- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Book 1 of a Great Series for Teens and Pre-TeensThis book begins with a bang and races from there. I actually got the third book first, but quickly realized that I needed to read books one and two to complete the story. The children learn that they are special kids destined to fight in the spiritual warfare battle of good against evil. What child (or any age for that matter) can resist that! The kids learn to put on their armor when they are called on to go into battle by going to school with others who also have special gifts. The book uses versus from the Bible to back up the story. This should be in every library that has a Harry Potter book, and gifted to every child that loves to read. I would much rather see kids consuming this than Harry Potter. I highly recommend this series for lovers of action and supernatural forces.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Spirit FighterSummary: Jonah Stone is just an ordinary kid who goes to an ordinary school, has ordinary parents, and does ordinary stuff. At basketball tryouts, Jonah failed. He didn’t make the team, and made a big fool out of himself. After the tryouts, Jonah was feeling angry, sad, and upset. While he was walking through a field, he saw a soccer ball and decided to take some anger out on it. However when he kicked it he went flying further than he could see. Of course, he thought it was kind of strange, but he just kept on walking home. When he got home though, he saw something, or rather someone up in a tree in his backyard. So he went to see who it was and when he got close enough to see the strange figure he realized that it was not a person, it was an angel. The angel was surprised that Jonah could see him and started asking Jonah some questions. After they got talking Jonah found out that he was a quarterling (one quarter angel). Jonah then went and asked his parents and they confirmed it, he was one-quarter angel. He also found out that his mom was half angel. After getting over the shock, he discovered that he had some special abilities. For one he had super speed, strength, and he could conjure a bow with flaming arrows from mid air. Also his sister Eliza discovered that she could create a magical shield out of nowhere. While they were busy training with their new powers their mother was kidnapped by fallen angles and taken to a secret location along with all of the other half-angels. Now it is up to Jonah and Eliza to save their mom and all of the others (half-angles).Review: I thought Spirit Fighter was a great book. When I write down what it is about it sounds kind of stupid but in reality is a very good book. I really like how the book is a Christian based book and it teaches about the bible while still being full of action and adventure. Also this book really kept me wanting to read until the very end. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes Christian based books, fantasy books, and action/adventure books. Overall this was a great book and it was a very fun read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow! Spirit Fighter is an amazing book! I was completely enthralled with the story from the very beginning. I loved the depth of emotion and realistic situations that Jonah faced in the first few chapters. Then to lead into the paranormal portion, where he finds out he is part "Angel" was captivating. I loved this book and could not put it down. Jonah and Eliza are faced with difficult situations beyond their control, and through each encounter find that as their faith in God grows, they become stronger and are able to defeat the Enemies' forces. Using their knowledge of scripture, their growing faith and trust in God, and each other; they are able to face the enemy and accomplish things that no mortal could ever imagine being able to do. This book shows young people, (and older ones like me as well) that we truly can do amazing things when we trust God's instructions, rely on Him and remember that "faith" is the key! Some of my thoughts as I was reading along:* I know my son will LOVE this if he reads it. * My daughter will love this in a couple more years! * This is a great book for school libraries to have on hand. Yes, this is a Christian Fiction book that is full of adventure, danger, and faith in God. Young boys will love this, and young girls will as well! Having the main characters, and hero/heroine in the story be a 13 year old boy and his 11 year old sister will interest young readers everywhere. I highly recommend this book for kids ages 9 to 109 (even "big kids" will love it too!)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Spirit Fighter by Jerel Law 5 STARS I found myself lost in the story and had a good time reading it. Spirit fighter is angels versus fallen angels and this battle is being fought by a 13 year old boy and a 11 year old girl. They have to go and save thier mom who was kidnapped by the fallen angels. Jonah 13 is excited because today was the start of basketball tryouts. He has been practicing for a long time. Its three days long. But the first day of tryouts the coach told him that it was not his game and don't come for the other 2 days of tryouts. Jonah was upset and said a prayer then kicked a ball in frustration and it flew along ways. Jonah told his father what happened to him. Jonah Mom and Dad after his little sister and brother were in bed that his mom was not all human. Her father was a fallen angel so she was a halfling and he was a 16th part angel. It is easy for a halfing to take after the fallen side if not careful. She did not know why Elohim answered his prayers right not but that he would have a reason for it. Eleanor a few days later was kidnapped by fallen angels. Warrior angels and the family guardian angel came to tell them what happened. That a lot of past histories dark side was caused by halfings. The mission to save thier mom is for Jonah an Eliza job to do. They needed to trust in Elohim to know all things and trust in him. Jonah has strength and speed are his gifts and they don't know what her gifts are but they are willing to go and rescue thier mom. Of course the fallen angels dont want to have thier plan ruined and take measures to stop Jonah and Eliza. This book has some bible versus and some history from the bible in this uplifting adventure story. I hope more books are in the work for this series. It will be one that I will read in the future. Thier is nothing objectable in this book unless you don't belive in Faith, Trust and Elohim power and knowledge. I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review from Netgalley. 04/03/2012 PUB Thomas Nelson
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is a fantasy story for Christian kids. I think it is written to appeal to those parents who don't like the Harry Potter type books because they believe anything about witchcraft is evil and who don't like the Percy Jackson books because they are about the Greek (false)gods. In this book, instead of witchcraft or ancient gods and goddesses, we have kids who are one quarter angel. Their mother is a nephilim, daughter of a human mother and father who is a fallen angel. So, 12 year old Jonah and his younger sister Eliza are sent on a mission to rescue their mother when she is kidnapped by the fallen angels who have some sort of plot to destroy the world. With Henry, their guardian angel, and Elohim, the name they call God in this book,on their side, Jonah and his sister are guaranteed victory. The story is a well-written adventure although it is rather predictable. The kids, being one quarter angel, have superpowers given to them by Elohim. I am not sure if I am thrilled about God being a character in a book along with angels with superpowers fighting the bad guys. If that does not bother you though, then you will probably enjoy this book. I received this book free to review from booksneeze.
